The word steal implies taking from someone else. Quite a subtle use, but it adds to all the other subtle negative connotations. That's how you ferment a frother.

So when Wilf 'steals a yard on a defender' according to a Mail sport report, the reporter is being racist?

The point is that the left on this very thread are twisting and spinning some innocuous phrase to make out that the phrase is racist. To say the least, that is being very economical with the truth. We shouldn't be surprised though, the left constantly does this on practically every topic. However, most people outside of the cult that is the left, have more sense than to be taken in by the nonsense.

Not sure why she is in the Conservative party, she would be more at home with the slaves to the EU, the Liberal 'Democrats'.

How much longer though? Why is she in the Conservative party, she opposes most of what they do.
But of course you are just defecting from the fact that the Mail's words are being spun to make it some left wing political propaganda stick.
I'm blinkered and risible am I - isn't that personal abuse, that is supposedly banned - well for some of us anyway.

No,we are allowed to respond to a poster's expressed view, which is precisely what I did...

Soubry is as much a Tory as Rees Mogg.It is just that the right wing nut jobs have now become mainstream.

Again, all you do is try to deflect from the ridiculous distortion of the Mail's article. [Soubry has about as much in common with Rees Mogg than you and I do.]

Weirdly only a problem it seems when it affects the right wing. This whole thing has been going on for decades, with people organising politically motivated boycotts and dropping advertising in media outlets.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it either. Its their money, their advertising, their choice of where to spend it. I'd be astonished if the influence of hope not hate really was responsible for their financial business decisions. Likely it corresponds with their own demographic targeting - and is being used as a means of marketing (hey look at us, we don't support the Daily Fail either).

I'd argue that having a media that is beholden to corporate sponsors and advertising is probably far worse than people.

Thank god then that the Daily Mail doesn't have a long history of prejudicial reporting and news. Its a tabloid, its agenda driven and it has a very long history of minority baiting.

Isn't it just indicative of the double standards applied in society in general these days. The left are allowed to publish all sorts of scurrilous distortions, accusing any not of the left of racism, islamophobia, being Brexit idiots etc. Whereas the right, in the press and all other media platforms, are shut down at every opportunity. This Mail furore with their use of the word 'steal' taken totally out of context, would sit well as evidence in a Stalinist show trial.

No one’s free speech is being taken away, Paperchase made a commercial decision to link up with the Mail. Hope not Hate have used the potential threat of commercial pressure to make Paperchase re-evaluate the value of link up with the Daily Mail . Basically it comes down to whether the commercial value of a deal with The Daily Mail is greater than the loss of revenue from a potential boycott, whether sales to Mail readers is worth risking the loss of revenue from it’s current customer base. Hope not Hate use the threat of individual consumer action to bring about this pressure, it’s my right not to buy goods from companies whose stance does not fit with mine. The Daily Mail are free to continue with the editorial stance they do which they will, what ever lefty liberals like me might think the Sun and the Mail are the two largest newspapers in the UK so reflect the views of a lot of people in this country they are free not to shop at Paperchase if they choose.
