£40k per week for 156 weeks = £6.24m!!!!! I don't blame him for not wanting to drop a portion of that money. At the same time I have no idea why we just didn't pay up a part his contract ages ago and let him go so he can play and at the same time give us space for other players.

He had a great season at Cardiff in the Premier League 2013/14, then struggled at QPR the next year. We clearly thought we could get him back to the form of his Cardiff time - £5m for a talented 22 year old was not an insane gamble. Shock horror - some transfers just do not work out. Could be for many reasons - didn't fit the system, lost motivation, the Cardiff season wasn't a true reflection of his ability, lost fitness, personal issues. Not his fault he's on the money he is. Good luck to him. If I was him I'd be looking to move to play regularly but it's completely up to him. I've hardly seen him play for us despite him being here for years.
