Probably about the same time as Benteke started to be called Ben

It's interesting to note that West Ham fans don't seem keen to sell and some seem to be saying £15m is far too cheap. Whenever I've seen him play he looks a threat, so if he's fit then I'd be happy to see him come in, but if Townsend did go we would need another winger as well as Antonio, unless Roy considers Lokilo and Kai Kai to be first-team ready (which I doubt).

You got the nail on the head, if he's fit. He never is. His hamstrings are in tatters

With Palace's record of refusing to sign players because they failed a medical, do you honestly think they would not take this into consideration?

West Ham have now signed 7 players. He must be available. As long as it's a reasonable price its a win-win even if he fails medical and the Hammers are likely stuck with him

Funny how people are complaining about signing West Ham bench players but Tomkins was arguably our best player last season and he was deemed surplus to requirements at West Ham, other then Antonio being injured he wouldn't never have lost his place in that West Ham team. He was their most important players at the time.

Agree..

Only from what I've read but Antonio can also play in the hole behind the striker (aka number 10) - and that could be really useful as we are currently two front line midfielders short of a proper squad imho, so if we got a def mid like M'Vila in, a squad player like Tufan and had Antonio to play in an advanced role if need be that would allow us to shuffle things around without losing too much quality when we have an injury or three like last season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't West Ham spend loads of money last season (this season they're second in net spend) and still did s***e?

Correct. They're doing it again now.

Antonio instead of Sako: good idea
Antonio instead of Townsend: Bad idea
Antonio instead of Zaha: suicide

I think this will end up going the same way it did when we were “strongly” linked with a move for diafra Sakho a strong rumour /speculation and nothing more I’m afraid

West Ham were actually low spenders last summer at net £17m - as a comparison we spent £31m

I think Antonio would be a great signing but would probably need to pay over £20m
