The reality is we are entering our sixth season in the Premiership, unprecedented territory for us. If you seriously think the people running the club haven’t a clue what they are doing, then you are misguided. Of course things could of been done differently, but we are where we are, please don’t think it’s luck, you can’t be lucky 5 seasons in a row in the toughest league in the world..
The ambition is obvious, to stay in the league and improve the infrastructure.

Hmmm. You can a bit. 2 perfect fitting managers available and Roy delivering massively over expectations and playing kerplunk with the squad and sun coming up comments with only 1 striker. Fantastic as it’s been, we’ve ridden our luck and luck never lasts forever.

My take is that we are either waiting on the RLC issue to be resolved, or we're actually working on some deals but playing our cards close so that we don't get gazzumped.

It's pretty strange this xfer season - we're usually linked with every player available by now. I have a feeling that the message going out is that we're skint and don't have a transfer kitty, so the agents are not planting stories in the press.

I'm not panicking yet, but after the WC finishes we don't have a lot of time to resolve our business.

So many wet excuses that the WC has got in the way of our doing any meaningful transfer business, other than letting Cabye go on a free.
Now we are out tonight, talking of wc's, will Steve finally get off the pot and get some transfer acquisitions underway, rather than waiting to the very last minute of deadline day???

The transfer window shuts earlier this year in around 25 days. Sometimes the best deals are done on the quiet.

I don’t believe leaving the finalisation of a deal until deadline day is even a club decision, more that of the selling club, player and their agents holding out for a better offer

Could not agree more. Parish had had success doing fairly obvious things, like hiring well established senior managers. He has come unstuck in man management and if anyone thinks the FDB fiasco shows that Parish knows what he is doing, then tell me another one.

We have had 2 good transfer windows since we got promoted. The way we conduct transfers is shambolic 90% of the time.

Other managers might have quit when publicly demanding a goalkeeper should be signed in January and being made a fool of, but RH is too old school for that.

He has done some things well and had successes of course, getting Zaha back amongst them. However it’s more through luck, than judgement, that we haven’t been relegated so far.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

With the greatest of respect that comment is complete nonsense. We have stayed in the PL because we have been better than the teams that have been relegated and at vital times of the season we have dug deep and performed well. It has nothing at all to do with luck.

yes and no. For us to stay up, Zaha needs to be exceptional year in, year out. Not very good, but exceptional. That's also down to luck.

To clarify I meant the chairman has been lucky and has been bailed out by the grit and determination of the coaching team and players. For example adapting to a system caused by the chairman not signing a striker due to the Niasse fiasco, then lo and behold benteke gets injured.

Parish was the cause of that problem, not the solution.

Thanks for the clarification. It is that same grit and determination which we need to bring to the table every year if we want to stay in this league as we will never have the spending power of the top 6/8 teams.

I personally believe our purchasing power is hamstrung rather than assisted by our US co-owners as they have failing teams in the US and we are their biggest cash cow in terms of sport. I don't put all the blame at Parish's door although I do understand the frustration felt by the fans including sometimes myself, with our transfer negotiations.

All I know come the new season, is that whoever plays for us, there will be no change in the level of support from our fans. We are worth a couple of league places on our own - just ask our players.

I'll be surprised if our net spend this summer was much over £15 million, personally. Some fans & many pundits use ambition and spending as synonyms, when they're not. The club needs to spend what it can, itself, sustain, regardless of the wealth of its owners.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

It's probably what Stoke, Swansea, and WBA thought. You can spend little if you're smart - Brighton paid very little on Gross, Huddersfield on Mounie etc. If you spend 60 million on two Liverpool bench-warmers, of course you'll be short on cash.

I wonder if we pay anything on deep European scouting, i.e. Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Eredivisie (matteo posts aside) or we just wait for Liverpool to transfer-list their flops. I can see us spending close to 30M this summer on Antonio and Ings with not much to show for on the pitch.
