The bias in the news and political programming is shown in the gate keeping.....as in who is allowed to be placed in front of the public....the percentage division between left and right voices of whatever degree and probably the most biased aspect of all.

The choice of what news items are reported upon.....and often what spin is placed upon it

Anyone claiming the BBC isn't stuffed full of Guardian types is a liar.....Plenty of ex BBC have said it and high ranking ex BBC as well.

This organization is publicly funded and meant to be impartial and has been letting the public down for decades now.

And its treatment of those that don't want its service has been nothing short of despicable.

Trevor Phillips made that point the other day BBC drama and other entertainment programming are constantly pushing a certain political agenda e.g. Doctor Who.
Then you have programs like Question Time that are so unbalanced in their panel and audience and have been for many years.

BBC employees like Gary Lineker are on social media pushing his pro Remain anti government bias to name one of many BBC employees who do this.

You can't claim the organisation is neutral and then allow your staff to publicly voice their politics.

This was the point that Phillips was making maybe the actual news isn't biased but the BBC is responsible for all of it's output.

As I have said many times before bias is always in the eye of the beholder. Go on any left leaning forum and you will also find the BBC under attack but for exactly the opposite reason, that it is right wing biased. You won't agree, but neither do they with you. I don't agree with either. I think it's doing fine.

If you genuinely believe the BBC isn't doing it's job then complain to Ofcom and ask them to investigate.

How are sociological/sexual/gender biases covered?
Dr Who was mentioned earlier - watch that next week and see if you can spot any agenda at work.

What the personal views of anyone are doesn't stop them doing their job.

I suspect that many people working at the Sun, Express, Mail or Telegraph don't share the political views published in their paper but they still do their jobs.

What news items are chosen and who appears on political debate shows have, I believe, been the subject of many complaints from Farage, UKIP, the Brexit party and the like in the past and been investigated both by the BBC and Ofcom and found not to have any substance. There's nothing stopping anyone from doing the same.

Those who don't want to pay the licence fee have no need to do so. They just need to abide by the rules.

The type of people who dominate left learning forums are rarely centralist lefties but instead far left activists like our old chum Gusset.

When it comes to criticism of the far left I'd say Gusset and chums also have a point.....The BBC is socially liberal, economically conservative....like the Champagne socialists who support it.

The BBC though has made a choice to be socially liberal as a political statement.

Look at its breaking of its own guidelines by its chief in respect to presenters giving their personal opinions on Trump.....totally against its written rules, yet 'muh racism'

Look at its social policies.

All its programmes have to adhere to 'diversity quotas'....which is affirmative action.

Pure anti meritocracy.

It pushes intersectional feminism, which is mainly a middle class far left ideology and none of its programmes are funny or adult....for risk of offence.

That writers decide to cover issues they consider of current interest should surprise no-one. Nor should it that some don't want them covered.

Even "The Archers" does that and always has.

Funny how the guy who claimed that 'I don't support the elites' does nothing but defend them from the right.....something he also claimed to be.

MPs, the Police, The BBC, Remainers (which was most of the establishment)

I think they sincerely believe that they aren't an elitist, but.....if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck....it tends to be a duck.

That’s the point. These issues are always, almost without exception, covered from the same viewpoint. It’s not even that many people actively disagree with the sentiments expressed, or care much either way, but resent the agenda being forced at every turn.

Interesting term "elite"

The OED defines it thus:-

"A select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society."

Now I don't know about you but I quite like the idea that our Police, MPs and even the BBC and the "establishment" might have superior than average ability or qualities. Add in the armed forces and our health care professionals and I think we would have a pretty good society.

Cool, WE finally implicitly recognises Donald Trump as superior.

Writers only write what will attract audiences. Fail to do that and the work dries up as my friend who was one of the original writers on Eastenders has told me. He has had a very successful career studying what is happening and what people want to know about, then researching it very thoroughly so what is presented is authentic. That some aren't interested is just par for the course. There are tonnes of alternative choices these days. No-one is obliged to watch anything. I avoid many subjects I am either not interested in or find distasteful.
