Nice attempt to cover your mistake.

The conditions of the extra 5 million are as yet unknown.

Not sure why you think me responding to you saying we don’t even get the £50m upfront and me saying instalments are common is me covering my mistake, but given the absolute nonsense you’ve posted for the last few weeks, nothing surprises me.

Think others on here have a good point that it will all depend how he is utilised at Man Ure. Certainly has great defensive attributes but offensively not quite as good yet. However has played as a winger and if he matures in this dept as you say could be a huge star for the future. Hopefully as part of the deal we have put in place a sell on clause. In relation to Wilf hoping for him to stay, as you do worry we could do a Swansea here and drop like a stone.

£50 million for a kid after just 1 season ! His last game was poor.
Only Man Ure would’ve paid this much and that’s because of their current situation. Turns out AWB was a Man Ure fan anyway.
All in all a great deal for CPFC. Well done Steve Parish.

Either that or, he will make a bad mistake in his first match, be put on the bench as punishment, lose his confidence and end up wishing he was back a good old, forgiving, SP

I don’t think that’s Solskjaer’s style however long he’ll be there for. Might be a Wilf situation in that he’s signed by a manager who leaves a few months into the season and a new manager comes in who hasn't signed him and benches him. Will miss his efforts on the pitch but not his post match interviews.

As the limit of our ambition is purely to stay in the Premiership, then it comes as no surprise that we are selling one of our best players, even if the Moan U offer probably is too good to turn down.

Player power rules these days and whilst AWB has behaved impeccably, it is possible that had we prevented his move it might have affected his game for next season.

We are not alone - look at the talent that has left Southampton in recent years. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the money will be spent wisely, assuming it is spent. Fulham spent £100M and got relegated and the Seaweed pent £60M and none of those players featured toward the end of their abysmal season.

I despise the parasites that form the top six clubs, none more so than the show ponies that play at Old Trafford. Fortunately they have a manger that will be gone by Xmas, so little chance of AWB plating in the Champions League any time soon.

An odd list of transfers to compare this to.

I don't think anybody expected Ambrose, Murray, Gayle or Jedinak to go on and prove themselves as £100m players, particularly as three of them were sold into the Championship and Murray was already in his 30s.

Zaha is the only one who is really comparable but he has mitigation for failing at United as he was the single biggest victim of Fergie retiring.

Don't think there's any doubt that, barring horrific injury, AWB will go on to have the sort of career that most of that list could only have dreamed of.

I was trying to think of the last time we sold someone who went on to achieve something. Ian Wright maybe?

I wish him the best of luck.

£50M for a right back who's played 1 full season is a good peice of business.

I'll miss his flying last ditch tackles. Although, I did have a few unpopular doubts about his ability. No doubt a really good player, but he seemed to give the ball away a lot, his positioning had a lot to work on but he got away with it because of his pace. I'd also question why he was so often found in the position where he had to make a last ditch tackle.

When Wilf left, there was a reluctance to let him go, but it seemed there was also some pride that we produced a lad who was expected to go on an achieve great things at Man U. The reaction today shows how far we've come and how far they have fallen.

Let's wait and see how he's replaced.

Yes we sold for money, and do you know why? Because we need money. Its simple isnt it, you dont need a degree in economics and capitalism to understand what went on here.

You dont become a selling club because you sell one player! Utter tripe, as usual. That is absolute nonsense. Parish and co have been s***e at selling players in fact with the exception of Bolasie which was a great bit of business.

Please google "selling club" to learn what the phrase actually means. We sell far too few players to qualify I am afraid.

If we are a selling club how do you explain us having the best attacker outside the top 4 on our books, head and shoulders above any attacking players at any team around us?

You cant, because your argument is the usual tripe.

Yep.

I’ve never heard AWB. Any links? Is he a bit street, ‘Know what I’m saying’ but not exactly that? Just irritating vowel sounds on ‘o’ sounds?

Mangers are in high demand at Christmas.

Balanced post. I agree on your observations and judging after cthe window has closed, or 1-2 weeks before.
