yer thats right give 2 little clubs as examples who was going down at some point regardless of cup wins, someone points out the ratio is something like 1 in 40 go down the same season they reach cup final thats just a wild guess at the figures, which means Palace are next, your reasons are floored more trophy's more support more income, success is based on trophy's, not the fact you have finished 17th every season in the lge,

I want us to win trophys before i die,I have waited 50years for us to win a major trophy, sounds like you and the other bed wetters wont be supporting palace if we go down because you cant see the top players in the other teams thrashing us,support the team not the lge

With the greatest of respect I wasn't blaming relegation on the fact that teams won/got to the final of the FA cup.I was just stating that to 'Yours Truly' survival in the PL was more important than a day out at Wembley as one can be in the lower divisions for many years after that Wembley appearance as evidenced by the examples I gave.

Some people have a different opinion to mine and I respect those opinions. After supporting our team since the 60s and seen the peaks and troughs in all weathers before paltry crowds it is refreshing to see us in the top division competing against the best players in the world with all the exposure and kudos this brings.

Let’s just wait and see how the next several league games before Watford go, as will Hodgson and Parish. Arguing before then is futile.

Good post, Willo. TBH I am beginning to get a very cautious sense of optimism that we might be able to stay just above the relegation places for the rest of the season. If this works out, then the FA cup is a genuine bonus. On the other hand, Watford sine the PL has been a bit of a Palace bogey team, so not at all confident we can win away, but you never know!

Exactly. If we're 7 points clear then prioritise the cup and vice versa.

We can live without Zaha, Luka and Sakho for one Prem game if we're well adrift from the relegation fight.

If we are still treading water though just play the balanced second string (Ward, Dann, Kelly etc) and hope it's enough to make it through to the semi-final. It could well be enough anyway, they aren't useless.

Well said.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Exactly. We do have enough strength on our bench to stay up and have a real go for ther cup. If our second string are good enough to beat Spurs they are good enough to beat anyone on the day.

I will support Palace as I have done all my life, in any division they happen to be playing in. If you don't want to go to games if we are in the Championship then I question your loyalty.
I would love Luka to go up and lift the F.A cup this season. If it means definite relegation then so be it.....but nothing is certain.

It is, it means Luka wouldn't be with us next season, plus almost certainly Zaha, ASB, Sakho, Townsend ,and at least another 3

Clearly you are correct, the financial implications of relegation are unthinkable, not forgetting that each extra cup tie drains our players and exposes them to injury!

As does the daily training regime.

It is possible to do both. Huddersfield and Fulham are down, leaving just one more spot.Cardiff are odds on for that spot. Personally I feel it is unlikely to be palace. Thd bookies tend to agree as we are 20/1 to go down.
We have a very winnable quarter final against Watford, followed by a 2 week break. There's then the prospect of a semi final against milwall or brighton and a final against man utd. In my opinion it's worth the risk going for the cup. ...

At this stage I see no risk. The Watford game is a one off with a break to follow. We have adequate cover in defence with Dann, Kelly and Ward; there is competition for midfield and forward positions. Go for it I say!
