There’s a documentary on BT Sport about Frank Warren called Make it or Die Trying which is half interesting and half puff piece. Worth a look for how he took on the Astaire/Lawless/Duff/Barrett cartel.

I haven't seen it but Warren was just as bad when he rose to power and now Eddie Hearn is doing the same thing.

I dislike Warren because the under cards were lousy and many of his star fighters fought the bum of the week.

For nearly two decades Warren was the man but he didn’t keep up with the times.
As a promoter I think Warren sucks, as Badger says, the opponents were often bums, plus he worked so closely with the WBO that the title almost meant nothing, often he would try and sell some fight or other between two B level fighters and make out it was a world title fight.

Will be interesting to see who fills the void. Hearn and SKY have done a great job for domestic boxing, the problem with the arrangement was that it was a closed shop.

If SKY put this out to three or four smaller promoter they in turn would then have increased pulling power to attract talent and the competition could mean better shows.

When Hearn first started his under cards were excellent it maybe my imagination but I think they have got weaker the longer he has been in power.

Thought I'd post this for the boxing fans. Went to the barbers today in Banstead and bumped into Joe Joyce.. Chatted with him for about 15 minutes and I've got to say what a genuinely lovely lovely bloke.. Dunno why but not what I was expecting.. Top man.

F@ck me Kenny, you’re a bit of a unit yourself son !

Always nice when people turn out sound.

Think Joyce is or was originally a Putney lad.

Thanks for sharing

Mate I'm 6'1 and used to play as a tight head in rugby at a fairly decent level but he made me feel like a dwarf!! Yeah he is out of Putney.

Asked him about what's happening with the Usyk fight. He said it all hinges on Fury v Joshua going ahead so they're waiting on that. If it does the he will fight Usyk, if it doesn't then Usyk is mandatory for one of Joshua's titles.

Well done Sunny Edwards.
Outstanding display.
My sons mate. Gutted the lads couldn't be there to support him.
Hopefully be there for first, of many , defences.
Ian John Lewis had a f***ing mare judging tonight.
I know it's objective , but, his scoring was miles out in 2 big fights tonight.

Just watched it and Edward's done really well.. Really pleased for him.. interesting you mention John-Lewis... I thought his judging was strange to.

I have always found fighters to be really pleasant and obliging outside the ring. Met lots of them over the years always ready to do a selfie. Perhaps they could gives PR lessons to some of these Z list celebrities.

Canello v Saunders tomorrow night.

Huge fight in front of 70k fans.

Would fancy BJS to pull an upset however he has little power so would most likely need to be on points and I can’t see the judges going against the cash cow home fighter.

Really looking forward to this one. Think Billy Joe is capable of raising his performance to the standard of his opponent. Canelo has had problems with slick fighters once or twice before, even Khan was winning until he got caught.

Great to see top fighters facing each other.
