What on earth are you banging on about?

I most certainly do not understand the point you are trying to make.

I am NOT trying to justify anyone's behaviour IF it has been proven to be reprehensible. All I have said is that as he has denied it perhaps it would be better to find out whether this was true, or not, before rushing to judgement. That's not justifying behaviour. It's just common decency.

I have also said that such things, even if proven, should not be allowed to obscure the great contribution to the preservation of our system that he has made.

Of course we must deal with any misappropriate behaviour in the correct and fair way but we must also keep it in context.

I try very hard to be calm and reasonable whatever the provocation but doubtless some people have thought I might have bullied them in the past. We are all, even John Bercow, subject to human frailty.

Why would I? I don't visit other sites.

I have told you before but you never listen. I post here because the people here are in much greater need of education. I used to teach social studies you know.

Ah, John Bercow

Such an interesting character.

A Conservative. Wisbech was wrong, he was clapped by the Conservatives yesterday, just not the front bench.

I stand corrected. I just noticed that they didn't all stand up as the rest of the House did.

What I will say - strongly - against Bercow is that he and his son never miss Arsenal home games. What kind of person is that.

Now that is, I agree, an unforgivable character flaw that ought to have disbarred him at the outset.

ďThe great contribution to the preservation of our systemĒ. Really? How about his great contribution to the preservation of impartiality on the part of the speaker?

He was completely politically impartial. He admonished MPs from all parties when appropriate. the perception of partiality only arose because of his defence of Parliament against the attempted incursions by government. That though is not partiality. It's his job.

I see. So his position on Brexit and Trumpís visit were both completely politically impartial.

Good for you, will you be selling it as a Board game?

I did my teaching at Thomas Bennett and then at Ashburton. Some on here will have been to those august institutions.

Exactly his job is to represent the house. Now if a motion was passed deploring Trump's visit and calling on the Speaker not to attend fair enough. However he took that decision upon himself whilst he has glad handed tyrants in the past.

When the umpire becomes the story you have lost credibility.

He never stated his position on Brexit. All he did was allow Parliament to state theirs.

His position on Trump was to reflect what he believed are the standards of decency and democratic process held by Parliament and state what is a fact. That addressing Parliament is not a right, it is an honour bestowed by Parliament to those they choose.
