Why does Biden need to reach out to them? This is the point of it all. The Bidens of this world have no interest in Trump supporters. They are the ones who stand in the way of what his corporate paymasters desire the most.

The point is that Biden will do nothing other than f*** them over. That is the point of the Democratic, and to a large extent the mass of the Republican Party. Get their jobs transferred to other countries where bigger profits can be made. Globalisation. Only game in town for the career politicians of any hue.

Voters are an inconvenience. Especially the ones who are willing to make the effort to actually go and vote rather than have nice people do all of that for them.

There is no 'healing'. People on the Left do not want that. Look at here with the Brexit vote. One of the single biggest exercises in democracy ever undertaken in a modern nation. Huge turn out and a clear victory. And yet what do many of the left, most of whom are at least for today the worlds biggest supporters of democracy, do? Throw the kitchen sink at having the votes of 17 million plus rendered invalid.

You want to act all high and mighty about what happened in Washington? Fill your boots. The other way around, I would probably do the same. But serious questions have to be asked about how that was allowed to happen. I smell a huge rat on this one.

But Biden is President. Happy days. And now we can get back to normal. You know 'normal'. Right? Middle Eastern Wars, dramatic footage of missile strikes, factories shifting to third world countries.

But you got rid of Trump. And man who you all told us would never even get the Republican nomination. And then a man who would get massacred by lovely Hillary. LOL.

Enjoy your moment in the sun. Its been a while.

You can be as cynical as you like, but none of what you suggest is really true. Biden is no more "left" than me. We are both social democrats. Believers in the power of democracy and capitalism but with a safety net for the disadvantaged.

Of course Biden needs to, and will, reach out to them. He doesn't want, or need, a totally divided country. It will be very, very hard and take a long time. Much longer than his Presidency but he can make a start.

Nor does he have "corporate paymasters" determining his agenda. He has wise entrepreneurs who support democracy (often helping fund both major parties) because they know that well-ordered government benefits everyone, including their businesses.

Maybe it's a surprise to you to know that not everyone is as self-centred as Trump. Many have public-spirited motivations and want to leave a legacy. They want to use their wealth positively.

By the way if you believe Brexit produced a "clear" result you must be using a special dictionary intended only for those with one eye on the right. With so much controversy surrounding the way the vote was called, the way the campaigns were conducted and the level of foreign interference to then have a 48:52 tally was anything but "clear". It was as murky as a 1950s pea-souper.

I think you're onto something there with the Brexit thing, Wisbech.
A shame you don't apply the same logic to the contest this thread is about.
Joe's corporate paymaster comes in the shape and form of the CCP.
He's also a pedovore.
One of those does not get in The White House.

I think I have fallen a little bit in love with you. That is wonderful. Thank you for that. Superb. Hugs & kisses xxx

Despite the overwhelming historic evidence.

I became an Antifa supporter after that Cup Final. It took a couple of years before someone pointed out to me that the fa wasn't the Football Association.

What goes on within the GOP and its base will have nothing to do with Biden....You just don't understand how disliked the Democrats are.

Oh I am only too aware of just how deluded those in the hard-core centre are. I have some old friends there with whom I regularly exchange messages. The level of misinformation and willingness to believe any kind of wild conspiracy theory never ceases to amaze me.

I first encountered these beliefs more than 20 years ago, so I know how deep-rooted they are. That was re-inforced during the Obama years when I found it difficult to reconcile the hatred for him which existed in some. Unadmitted racism lurked in many people.

Like any group though Trump's base is not all like that. As you move away from the core his hold lessens. As time passes, especially now he has dumped on his legacy, the core will shrink and the outer bands will increase.

The GOP has been seduced by Trump over the past 5 or so years. Now though isn't then. New leaders will emerge who will distance themselves and provide new visions. New ways of achieving what the more reasonable Republican voters want without resorting to the kind of behaviour now associated with Trumpism.

Trump has been an experiment which failed. Many of us knew it would fail from the outset. Some didn't but are now being forced to recognise that it has.

So whilst I agree that we won't see a sudden rush of Republican to Democrat conversions I don't see Trumpism being able to dominate the GOP again.

There were always a lot of "never-Trumpers" in the party whose voices have been muted these past 4 years. You can expect to hear a lot more from them soon. I expect Mitt Romney to be playing a leading role in taking that forward.

The core of Trump's base will still exist. It always has existed but has just been known by other names. It will though shrink over time, just as other cancers can be shrunk with carefully targetted treatment regimes.

A safety net for the disadvantaged. Paid for by whom. The safety net here is now a wage packet for many the same as it will be in the usa for votes. Trump has said many times he wants people to make the best for themselves with their own sweat and toil. Sadly those very people will be paying for the disadvantaged.

I think the next target for the pharmaceutical industry, now they have conquered C19, is to find a vaccine which provides immunity to conspiracy theories.

The infection rate seems out of control at the moment. Maybe we need to lockdown the internet for a while.

It's every decent person who believes in democracy and the rule of law who is disgusted by Trump. Their personal political is irrelevant.

So it was just about trump then? Not policy.
If he cured cancer, gave world peace and made everyone a penny above what they need it would still be about trump. Wow If shallow were people you would be china.

I speculated yesterday about what needed to be done to restrain Trump during these last 2 weeks and whether using the 25th would happen.

I also wondered if his staff would take steps to do something.

It now looks to be as though the latter has happened. His most recent statements do not appear to have been written by him. They don't match either his style or pattern.

My guess is, and it's only a guess, is that Pence and the senior advisers have told him that unless he says what they tell him to say, and then keeps quiet, they will immediately use the 25th.

Perhaps Ivanka and Jared were involved too and demanded he comply to try to protect their futures.

A few staff have already resigned too. So my suspicion is that he finally has had to accept he has no other choice than to comply.

Whether he tries now to go ahead and pardon himself and if so whether anyone in the Justice Department will co-operate with him in preparing the legal texts will be interesting to observe.
