How did trump affect you personally as you are seriously a hateful person. Maybe you were the school bully or the bullied.

Yeah, but you're trying to be rational about it Cryrst.

Mainey to be fair to him represents the majority of the left. When you look the leadership of the left on either side of the pond they sound like him more than anyone else.....maybe not as over emotional perhaps but the beliefs are the same.

We are entering dark times....censorship and conflict in the US.

But hey, they voted for it...apparently.

Ted Cruz now distancing himself from trump, after Lindsey Graham.

Rats, utter and complete rats, leaving the sinking ship. Make no mistake, this ship will sink.

To think that billionaires don’t face justice in this era is to forget trumps pal Jeff Epstein.

Trump will attempt to self pardon, and that will be shot down by the Supreme Court. That doesn’t matter though, as trump will go away for a long old time on state charges alone.

There are literally hundreds nay thousands of prosecutors, lawmen, FBI or whatever that will dedicate the rest of their lives to nailing trump to the wall. He has the biggest target on his back in human history.

He shall know no peace, no relaxation, no quiet retirement. He will be sitting with his team of slimy lawyers for several hours every day, until the day finally comes when he is marched off to jail.

The great trump experiment has failed. He has been exposed for what he is, and the GOP is now slowly and quietly moving away.

A sad end, to a pathetic term, of a silly little child of a man.

My advice to the Democrats is you have won move on and start focusing on governing.

President Ford pardoned Nixon because he realised that it would do the country no good to keep fighting that battle. In 11 days times Trump is history Congress would be better off concentrating on COVID.

Trump is a busted flush you can't keep talking about healing whilst pursuing action against a man millions of people voted for.

I have no doubt that individuals or groups will spend years chasing Trump through the courts but the Democratic Party has bigger problems on their plate.

Time to govern.

The Democrats need to keep pushing against Trump. That is the entire point of it. A message needs to be sent. Politicians who dissent from the accepted order of things in terms of globalisation will not be tolerated.

Trump scared the living daylights out of them because he made a mockery of the entire system. He played the game on his own rules and won. Twice. Never forget how many of these so-called experts told us that Trump would never win the nomination. Or how he would be slaughtered by Clinton. They only managed to beat him due to a global pandemic offering them the cover for the biggest single incident of electoral fraud in the world.

They will pursue and pursue Trump now because he represents, still, the biggest threat to the status quo. To the stitch up that modern politics is. They cannot allow him to snipe away from the sidelines. They need to try and shut him up and ideally lock him away or else use the threat of that to somehow make the man effectively put himself into exile.

And are being cheered to the rafters by people who would have, until 10 or so years ago, proclaimed themselves as the champions of free speech. Who would have laughed at Trump, considered themselves his intellectual superiors who could swat him away like an annoying mosquito.

Trump is a monstrosity. I get that. But the system still seems unable to understand that if millions of people thought of him as being the solution then what does that say about the people who are the problem?

Apparently ha ha.
Maybe I was wishing yesterday, hopefully you are wrong but probably right about future governance!
This censorship though will get worse and it will affect many people. Luckily I just use the net for info and searches so no FB or TW for me.
I see google has now banned parlour and apple are threatening it so it has started. What the left miss though is half of the west is right leaning.
You can fool some of the people etc.

It seems they think the right wing need to be 'educated'.

From my perspective it'll be 'education' into loving their coming sh1te-sandwich.

Most people aren't political and as such don't think too hard about how we got here....how, in social terms, the past was actually better and how generations of politicians have betrayed them for short term convenience and buzzwords.

A lot on the right are still in a kind of denial. They think that being reasonable and closing the door will suffice...I can understand that...because I don't know of a human that likes to think the future will worsen.

But a lot of the problems of today were created by that very behaviour. Everyone looks to someone else to solve the problem. It's like an accident where the onlookers watch thinking that someone else will be taking control of it.

I pretty much agree with this.
Also - whilst the rioters are a disgrace and should be locked up - amazing how little protection there was the other night.
Everyone knew what was coming well in advance and what might happen yet they did little to stop it.
It backfired because people died which is bloody dreadful.
They could have done far more however but chose not to which then allows them, assisted by the media, to ramp it up.
Terrible times but the Democrats are guilty as hell on this one as well as the scum who rioted.

And a warrant for his arrest as been issued by Iraq. Blimey. Having said that I doubt he was planning a trip anyway.

The Democratic Party will understand that and doubtless would prefer to be able to forget all about Trump and move on. They have a huge mess to deal with and don't need the distractions.

It though doesn't control the legal system any more than Trump does. If crimes have been committed then they will be detected and prosecuted. Biden pardoning Trump would only affect federal crimes. At State level he would still be vulnerable.

Dealing with his support base is more of an issue for the GOP. As they distance themselves further and further (as predicted by myself many times) they need to try to take the base with them. Muting Trump is therefore as much in their interests as anyones.

Here is some real rationality, rather than the pseudo type on offer elsewhere in this thread.

Google hasn't banned Parler! It has just removed it from it's app store. You can still download and use it, if that is your wish. I am sure the FBI are keeping a close eye on everything that gets posted there and would not want to see it restricted.

The idea now predictably being promulgated on here that all of this is some kind of attack on "free speech" and is a precursor of some kind of censorship totally misses the point.

What has happened has nothing to do with "free speech". Encouraging sedition is a crime and those who are involved cannot be supported by any law abiding business. Social media companies are fully entitled to make their own rules and take their own decisions. If they believe encouraging sedition has happened then they have little choice other than to act.
