The SCOTUS confirmation hearings have turned into a platform for Dem senators to make party political broadcasts. Their knowledge of the actual way the SCOTUS works is pathetic, idiots like Feinstein reading out questions written by others and being politely batted away by an excellent nominee.

If he doesn’t he would probably be the only major politician that hasn’t hit a financial jackpot on leaving office

I suppose I should thank you for the laugh, but actually it isn't funny at all.

The document you include is full of things like "so many proofs" when the actual truth is there are none. None of this stuff is actually true and no "proofs" exist. It's all just wild assertion. People believe it only because they are too lazy to check things and accept these claims at face value. If their online buddy says it's true then it must be true. It isn't.

It's a conspiracy theory. Who started it and why are the really questions that need to be answered. Seeking to disrupt another election seems the most likely to why, but who is an open question.

When the whole process is 100% political are you surprised?

The politicisation of the judicial system in the USA is nothing less than shameful. It is very damaging to democracy.

I am so glad that we haven't, yet, followed that trend and that our justices are selected independently and solely on merit.Their personal political views remain unknown.

Mrs Coney Barrett does appear to be a good candidate who may yet surprise us with her judgements. That though doesn't alter the fact that she hasn't been chosen for that reason, but because the right expect her to alter the balance of the Court.

She had a good day yesterday the Democrats couldn't lay a finger on her.

This doesn't mean that she will vote the way Trump wants her to. I suspect she will vote as she say on the merits of each case.

Earl Warren was appointed to the court by Eisenhower it was assumed he would continue with his socially conservative view in fact he became the most liberal judge who drove civil rights agenda.

That's true, but that's intentional and not a bad idea during a pandemic. I'm not sure that the alternative approach of intentionally not caring if you expose others to covid-19 (as Trump did during and shortly after his positive test) is better. Or if the implication is that Biden is less popular, I'm not sure that aligns well with where we are, which considering how unimpressive and addled Biden is, goes to show how woefully unpopular he and Trump both are. If this is the best the US has to offer then it's a sad state of affairs.

I think the bold is very true.

No they did not.

And were at pains to point it out.

They rule whether something is lawful or not.

The USA system is as s***e as their food.

Yes, sadly I think that's more intention than accident too. Anyone with a genuinely principled and non 'favours for mates' approach is counted out long before they make the presidency. Better to have people in place that are malleable, corrupt or compromised because then others have a chance of having a slice of the pie. Not as though I'm the biggest Bernie fan of all time, but he was clearly taken out twice on account that he's his own person and not willing to be bought.

That report addresses diversity and not political affiliation. Although you will doubtless deny it these are completely different things. Ensuring diversity in the judicial system starts at the roots and not at the top. Making sure that every section of society is involved is a worthy aim. It has zilch to do with the assessment of those to serve on the Supreme Court being done on merit, unless you believe that only "white" men have merit!
