Quite right.

We all know why these rules are in place and we follow them, but there are family circumstances that exist or might arise where you need to visit someone and there is no significantly increased risk to anyone else.
Sometimes, blindly following blanket rules is just not reasonable in certain situations, and where the family is concerned, one has to do what the heart tells you.

That doesn't mean you can murder people or some such hyperbolic twaddle.

So some laws/rules can be broken but others can't. It's ok to travel 260 miles to stay somewhere where you could infect other people? Do you really believe they didn't interact with anyone else either on the journey or when they reached their destination? People that may not have been infected had they not travelled?

It's ok to travel when one of the parents is healthy and showing no symptoms? Do you really believe that the child, if severely autistic, doesn't have some sort of childcare whilst they are out at work? Was it beyond the thinking of Dom to get this person in to look after his child, someone the child would know and feel comfortable with?

He is guilty as sin and should resign.

Senior Civil Servants, in my experience, are incompetent. They write policy for departments in which they have no previous experience. To say they are not politically driven is nonsense. A few years ago head of Border Force was the driving force behind Damian Green’s office being raided by the police.
I know Wissie will disagree but 43 years as a civil servant, I think I have a better idea

They simply cannot all be incompetent. Much more likely, given the cynicism you routinely display, you have a bias, honed from your 43 years in the ranks. Most foot soldiers feel their commanders to be incompetent.

Stop and look around you.
Watched too much muppet Christmas carol I reckon
But seriously watch the tv news as I'm sure you did yesterday at 5pm. 1000s and 1000s have broken the rules. More chance that they have infected others than Cummins. Wheres this 2nd outing he had anyway.
Havent seen any pictures yet.

I watch the news and, as you must be aware, the rules have changed. Any evidence? Still waiting.

No. And if the civil service is producing people like that then it does need an overhaul. But not by advisers sticking in their oars. By Parliamentary committee.

But I'm fence painting in between being on here and drinking. What exactly do you want me to produce as evidence? Has your dog run away.

So your best mate who is qualified wont be allowed to help you then. Rather someone who you dont know because they may be impartial, which incidentally is impossible as we all have an opinion.

100% not by your best mate. You don't want sycophants advising. You want people with real knowledge putting up all the arguments, those you like and those you don't.

Sycophants are what we now have in the USA and we don't want to mimic that here.

Much like my met police friend - whilst travelling in jo’berg in 2010 proclaimed that London was more dangerous than the most dangerous city on the planet and would not have it any other way (murder rate was way higher in 2010). In fairness it seems to have cleaned up its act a bit now - Cape Town has a horrendous murder rate as of 2019

If all you see is murder, lawlessness and the worsit of humanity on a daily basis, you inevitably struggle to remain objective, even in the face of hard facts

I agree with a lot of this - and I assume we will hear this sort of PR line later today in a big climb down

But his initial reaction fails it for me

If it was a genuine moment of desperation we would have heard that story first, not second

Also surely he is not that naive to expect it to come out - he’s not - which means he just went ‘f*** it’

Actions have consequences when you’re in the public eye.

Unsurprising you lot clambering to defend him on here. Would love to see the reaction if Diane Abbott had done the same thing.

Actions do have consequences yes. But his actions were because of his personal situation. people might start to see the reason away from the politics why 'he's felt rightly or wrongly that he did what he did. He knew this was coming but wheres the smoking gun; of the other trips out, and all those having a pop need to remember that the future is yet to come.

I have to say I find the reaction as loony as anything I've heard over these three months....all by a far left media, who don't do social distancing anyway....some of the biggest slimy hypocrites out there.

It doesn't matter, he's going nowhere anyway.

The far left Daily Mail included. Not going anywhere has caused more damage than resigning.
