I really don't think many people would have. They would have followed the rules. You may not agree with the rules but if you ignore all rules and act on instinct you have anarchy.

Yeah...but no ones suggesting we break all rules.

Anarchy in the UK? Rings a bell.

Was Cummings at the core of lockdown policy?

It's a genuine question.

He's an adviser at the end of the day and this stuff isn't his brief. I doubt he formed the full lockdown policy.....but I will certainly be interested to find out who pushed for what when the history of all this is laid out.

Cummings was pro lockdown and pushing for it. And all the leftie lockdowners were getting uppity about DC attending SAGE meetings.

Cummings reported to the police by witness who claims he saw him break the curfew. Witness is a teacher so just how credible that is remains to bee seen.

So far no smoking gun has been produced and the behaviour of the media pack is disgusting just because they don't like him. Yesterday a lefty told me that he is the most dangerous man in the country and there has never been anyone in that position before.

A load of rubbish of course all leaders have attack dogs Alistair Campbell was well known for threatening reporters and MPs.

Unless any hard evidence emerges this is now a non story.

They’ve forgotten WMD and sexing up dossiers.

Mmmm...maybe....The article seems to be trying to attack him. Maybe it's accurate but I'm sure we'll find out more clearly soon enough.

Loads of young graduates left London for their parents homes after lockdown. And you know who they voted for.

Yes I struggled to believe this but being a saviour of lives (100,000 at least it was at the time) and the NHS fits aims for their image.

I have stayed away from this kind of thread recently as I believe it to be a distraction from the overwhelming priority we face as a country at the moment. At this time we need to support our government and put petty political arguments aside.

However, this is about Dominic Cummings who, whilst not part of the government, is impacting their ability to act by requiring them to answer how he lives his personal life. So the distraction has been caused by him, and it needs to be ended by him.

For me, this is an open and shut case. Whatever his personal circumstances, whether his child is autistic or not, he broke the rules that we were all, at that time, required to follow. Other "advisers" caught transgressing those rules have apologised and quickly resigned. This ought to be no different.

As a separate issue, I want to see the removal of ALL special political advisers to government. I believe they are an anathema and an affront to democracy.

Political parties can employ strategists but their work needs to be in the background, doing research and working on future campaigns.

We don't want our governments driven by advisers, who in Cumming's case is essentially a marketeer with a personal vision, who then design a populist agenda.

The civil service advises the government and provides the continuity that is essential for a smooth-running economy.

If the civil service is deemed to require an overhaul and an injection of new blood and fresh ideas, then it's our elected representatives in Parliament who are the only democratic method of making that decision.

Allowing someone like Cummings to even have an ounce of influence, let alone the control he seems to have grasped, sets an awful precedent.

So although he needs to now go in any event, him going would only be the start for me. All the political advisers need to go.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

Just as hypocritical. Probably more hypocritical over their lives.

Definitly. Not sure they attended SAGE meetings where the rules were suggested. So hypocritical but not as dumb as Dom.
