A dissenting view of lockdown. The legality is one thing but the long term detrimental effects seem likely to outweigh the benefits.

A neighbour, in her 60's, of mine spent 30 days in a coma because of CV-19. (she still isn't 'right', 2 months later) Other people are spreaders and show no symptoms. Largely children.

It is an absolute c-unit of a disease. I don't have any answers, except to say Orwell's "1984" has come to be.

(Dr) Wrich 5hltty. You should be publicly shamed. You are a disgrace to the scientific community. You talk a bit, but say nothing of substance. You took the cash and then bottled it.

A lecturer of mine was a pioneer in the development of the catalytic converter. He got f-ck-all in terms of financial reward.
The personal highlight of his career was as a professor, and having a female student urinate over him in a toilet cubicle.

I wish I could do similar to Prof. Chris Whitty

Actually, I would love to 5hlt on him

And which country's 'statistics' aren't falsified/manipulated ?

At least Iran has the right idea - falsifying them to look better. We appear to be falsifying ours to make us look worse, by reporting people as coronavirus deaths when they have died WITH coronavirus and not necessarily BECAUSE of it.

It is, but to put it into perspective, 44,000 people under the age of 75 and 177,000 of all deaths each year are attributed to heart failure. Of the 46,000 that have died of Covid to date 49% are over the age of 75 and 91% of all Covid deaths had underlying conditions.

The bottom line is if you are under 75 and relatively fit you are as likely to die from a heart issue as you are Covid and now that we have some degree of control over it the chances of catching Covid are much reduced. You probably have as much chance of catching Covid as you do a scouser taking a job.

You are right that itís a terrible virus, but I also think it is understandable to question whether our civil liberties have been breached given the overall statistics.

Would have happily, and still will, accept rubbishing my post because I struggled to write it down without cringing and yet...something is not right with this entire debacle. Wish I could put my finger on it but everything has this sense of being almost narrated and towards what end game I do not know.

I am 90% convinced now this virus did not just evolve naturally. I do not think it was a deliberate release and have always leaned towards the cock-up rather than conspiracy narrative of history, on every level, but 2020 feels so bloody weird. Nothing feels right about anything anymore.

Not so much that the rug has been yanked from under our feet but defintiely a sense that somebody is trying to do so.

Oh well, lets see. We are still right in the middle of the storm and until the wind has finally died down, its impossible to truly ascertain the level of damage caused. Let alone think about the rebuilding.

You are not on your own in your thoughts. The wisdom of age that is overlooked so much in this country tells you that something is wrong even if it is not in plain sight.

If you are worried about Government tracking you then ditch your mobile phone. End of story really.

But I am definitely now tending towards the 'conspiracy' that Covid-19 was an accidental release from the labortary there. More and more voices that I deem as sensible are putting it forward.

And going even further, given the disproportinate impact it is having on non-white people, I am starting to wonder, and I concede it is full tinfoil-hat wearing territory so feel free to mock, if the Chinese have been deliberately engineering it so.

My logic is that China has been buying up huge chunks of African natural resourses. Metals, minerals, agriculture, absolutely billions being spent ever year ring-fencing resoures. More than happy to bribe who ever. Not even hiding it.

With one of the predictions for the next couple of decades that the populations of the African countries impacted might start playing up when they realise what has been happening. So having an ability to release a virus that could impact on those rebels, along with perhaps holding the cure to be doled out in exchange for compliance to what is nothing more than 21st century Imperialism is not beyond the realms of possibility.

An interesting theory. If this has been engineered by the Chinese, they would unlikely engineer something that would wipe out their people, hence their rates are allegedly low and they have already vaccinated their military.
The key to a cure, if this is factual, would be to understand why it isnít causing damage to Chinese genetics and re-engineer?
If this isnít true the key is still to understand who if effects most and least and why, I would suggest.

What I find odd about this situation is the way the entire world bought into the lock down with hardly any delay. Conspiracy theories are two a penny but one that I find quite believable is that Governments want to move away from cash transactions. In Sweden by 2016 less than 1% of payments involved cash. China is also heading toward being completely cashless.

It's a two way street and logically lots of deaths that are due to covid-19 will be missed too. If you look to our excess deaths we've got it right or if anything are somewhat under-reporting.

I'm not sure that falsely under reporting is 'getting it right'. It looks like the US is now going down that route too though, with the CDC being cut out of the loop and the numbers going straight to the whitehouse.

I heard (correctly or incorrectly), that the reason Covid has been going on some death certificates is because a post mortem is not required on Covid linked deaths, so given the time and manpower saved it would be understandable, if somewhat morally wrong.

It would be tremendously difficult to unleash a virus that was intentionally very damaging for one race, and yet others breezed through it, because as much as some won't like it, we are all genetically very similar. Besides, viruses mutate, and that is entirely out of our control. Releasing a virus like that would be dumb because the eventual outcome could end up being the complete opposite of the initial intention.

I wouldn't rule out that it escaped from a facility, though at the same time it's something that is inevitable when you create a scientific experiment on the outside too, which is basically what these wet markets are, with cages piled up full of animals that would never typically come into contact with one another.
