The only interpretation that can be taken of this latest government science led shambles is that there is zero confidence in the public generally to behave in a rationale manner. So, even though it’s youngsters in the majority that run riot and have raves, illegal parties and dance in the street after closing simply because they can, the rest of us are punished because the virus is spreading in all age groups.

Anyone thought that the kids mixing in schools and the young adults partying perhaps bring it home and spread to parents who then inadvertently spread to grandparents etc etc.

You can be as safe as possible by following all the guidance, not doing this and not doing that and putting up without a pint but have no control over those who spread it asymptomatically.

This is why the closure of pubs without meals and all of the other bull associated with it is such nonsense. If you want to have a real impact close down all schools and colleges for December keep the kids apart and everyone go about their social distancing and sensible use of the hospitality industry before it collapses entirely.

There is more and more evidence from respected bodies that Covid doesn’t spread asymptomatically. I assume it can spread in the incubation period of people that experience symptoms.

Normally I’d disagree on closing education to keep drinking businesses open but this is essentially for just over 2 weeks of schooling do you have a good point. It’s more how a premises is set up imo, but these marshals and local council b&stards have no concept of anything away from basic instructions.

There is no justification in spreading a killer virus by allowing non-essential activities.

Protecting businesses, and the people who depend upon them, is another issue which has to be managed by the government and the cost borne by us all.

People and businesses in parts of Kent miles away from the problem areas of Kent should not be damaged because of parts of the east coast of Kent probably ignoring any guidance. Businesses in Sevenoaks, Westerham or any of the lovely places between Tunbridge Wells and towards the A22 and neither Tunbridge Wells either. They take ages to get to from Swape, Thanet etc on the coast and have no public transport links. Most people in areas like these have transport links up towards London and back. I’d be fvcking fuming if I had a nice well behaved pub that had to close down, and there are many nice ones I can imagine are no problem whatsoever.

‘Cost borne by us all.’ Nice one. May as well borrow a few dozen billion more. It’s not as if interest rates ever go up again after all and like left wing morons keep thinking.

The majority of people, intentionally or unintentionally are morons, so I can sympathise with the government to some extent here.

I agree with this re. it's ridiculous that the whole of Kent should suffer because of a part of its population being complete bell ends. However it is simply far too complex to start sub dividing the country into thousands of tiny portions each with its own tier. People switch off at this level so I'm not sure how you'd expect them to follow that sort of complexity. And the amount of admin and red tape that would go with it for the government... unviable.

Just have to deal with it. There is no good solution. Certainly not one that complex anyway.

I can agree with this in some places, especially up north. Down south there are enough wise and sensible people to balance up the stupidity. But in areas that are often either sparse, or with more reliable people in higher socioeconomic groups or both, you don’t have this issue of trust, or people flocking to them on miles and miles of A roads to find there isn’t a table spare anyway.

The Covid Recovery Group (CRG) of Tory MPs, set up to scrutinise the government's response to the pandemic, is threatening a revolt in next Tuesday's vote.

I doubt there’s any red tape at all. And by all accounts it’s just one pocket of Kent where people are either sh&gging each other everyday or licking each other’s faces in public. Not that difficult but for some reason the whole county, which is pretty big and separated, is all lumped together. They’re right to be p1ssed off.

Slough. The only borough in the whole of the south in tier 3 apart from Kent. Yet for some reason Swale and Thanet etc cause every pub and restaurant to close in Kent.

It has been suggested it would have been far more sensible to divide the country up into district council areas and I have warmed to this idea.

I’ve just edited my post. Slough is the only town/borough in tier 3 in the whole of the south apart from Kent. Yet Swale and Thanet cause Kent to have all establishments closed.

That response doesn't address the point. I'll leave the what can be safely done, and where, to those who have all the information to make those judgements. Which won't be found here.

Once determined there can be no justification to break the determination purely to maintain a business. Maintaining the business ought to be done, but in another way. It costs us all to keep us all safe.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

It's unadulterated hogwash.

You’ve said that because there’s no justification for bundling all of Kent into tier 3. Same for the situation in Lincolnshire because of Grimsby. There’s a definite trend. Lower socioeconomic groups ignore guidance the most, as have some ethnic minorities, mainly the Muslim communities.
