That’s my view but unfortunately her mum and dad have taken a different view, not blaming them though. He is torn as wants to go ( spent Christmas here last year) but wanted to spend few more days here. I am sure some will say he needs to grow up but we are a close family and Christmas means a lot. Ridiculously they live in Maldon which is now Tier4 but I believe Colchester is Tier3.

On the bright side you are blessed with a close family mate, this will pass, a close family is something money can"t buy.

That is true. Shame wife is working Christmas Day, watching all those International travellers coming in. Still on the bright side will have the tv and booze to myself. Take care

Son was going to be with us until Christmas Eve and then go to his girlfriends. Her home has been put into Tier 4. So all our arrangements for this week and Christmas Eve f***ed. He now has to go tonight, he is also in tears along with my wife. What a f *** ing Christmas, no advanced warning still I am sure some will support this

I probably support this, it’s more the way it’s been done I disagree with.

To me it’s about managing expectations, to be given Christmas and then have it taken away with six days to go is worse than if you were never promised it.

All of a sudden introducing another tier, it’s as if the virus is running the country and not the government.

Under promise, over deliver. Never fails.

I dont see how he could have .
Imagine it was the case that boris said no to xmas mixing then today said oh alls well and you can mix. He would be hammered for not giving enough notice as he has today. The man looks wasted and you cannot act the face on him. Rumour is this new strain affects youngsters more so if that's the case people will take it seriously now and eventually, just maybe, see this as a good move.
That is aside figures of long covid affecting
1 in 5. Including asymptomatic cases I beleive.

Agreed unless it is PC Grinch

I think they will be very busy.

I've got a feeling that it's become apparent that complainace with the rules is very low this time round, which has forces them to increase the restrictions.

They might also want to avoid a spike in deaths when the vaccine is supposedly round the corner.

This additional lockdown was always predictable and predicted. Doctors asked for it for weeks

The new strain gives the Government a useful get out but it’s only a fig leaf

Should have had the first lockdown during school half term and for an extra week. Then acted quickly again as soon as the signs came of a rapid increase. Not only always behind but also dreadful communications management.

That's precisely how I saw it, and there just felt like an inevitability to what was given being taken away too, which makes it worse. When Bojo got on his 'merry little xmas' angle I had a sinking feeling that it was about to disappear into nothingness.
