There is a political pincer movement where it's going to be increasingly difficult to please everyone. Combine that with tough times and a plethora of entertainment and news options and those advocating for the license are certainly in a minority. The license fee is on borrowed time.

Lineker is not bothered about the DG instructing staff to be impartial on social media and not to make overt political opinions. In fact he says he intends to continue as he is freelance and not BBC staff so this doesn't apply to him. He maybe correct but the DG has to plug that loophole. There are many who work at the BBC freelance and so are not covered. However people like Lineker are the face of the BBC just because he invoices the BBC for his salary that is a minor technicality. It maybe that his contract needs amending to cover this but the DG has to make a start and if freelancers don't wish to be constrained by BBC rules then they should refrain from taking the "Kings Shilling". Over to you DG this is your first test.

DG considering a 2 tier licence fee. Yes it's The Sun but it's on other papers as well. Non starter, what the BBC will do is syphon off the very few decent shows it makes into the premium package leaving the rest of us with the likes of Homes Under The Hammer (repeat). Actually being mischievous I think its a great idea. Most people will opt for the basic package and get even more annoyed about value for money and so hasten the end of the licence fee altogether.

BBC to spend £1m on survey of staff how can we do things better. Sorry DG but your people are the reason the BBC is in such a mess. If you really want to know how to improve BBC services the people you need to ask are the taxpayers who fund your lifestyle and are very disgruntled. I can hazard a guess at what the staff will say: - Need even more diversity in front of and behind the camera. etc.

This is even more a reason why the BBC should be pay per view. They can do what they like then and we can make a decision whether we want to pay for it or not. I think there are about 2 or 3 programmes I watch on it and I can cope quite nicely thank you without any of them.

if you were to dump all those subscriptions, those 'uupgrades to premium' etc. you would realise what a waste of time and money they all are. Wake up to BBC sounds with your playlist free of decadent advertising. Adverts now seem even more ridiculous how could anybody possibly believe them. But then they voted Johnson in, didn't they?
