Makes sense this loan, weve suffered with too many midfielders laid up injured. McArthur, schlupp ,Luka . Eze ,Olise out for a while ,we need numbers, this loan is perfect.

Personally don't see the issue with this at all and quite frankly think it's the best option. If he doesn't do to well and falls short of what we would like from him, then we just hand him back at the end of the season. If he does well then we can revisit in the summer, yes all be it at maybe a slightly higher price but you've then tested the water. His first season in the premier league last year was with a struggling West Brom side so maybe we can cut him a little bit of slack.

I wouldn't be against Gallagher at all if it was on the premise that he comes in alongside another midfielder more of the mould that we require. I just highly doubt that'll be the case. Jimmy Mac is almost 34 and can no longer do box to box. He hasn't for over 2 years now and his zero goals in that period partly proves that (previously he used to chip in with about 5 goals a season). Schlupp isn't a centre mid. He usually plays on the left in a 442. Due to his versatility he has been used in the centre, usually when coming off the bench, and has looked a little lost IMHO. Not saying Gallagher is great, but he is definitely different to the centre mid players in our squad - which consists of Koyoute, Luka, Jairo and Macca

Not making the direct comparison - some difference in quality - but the mid who will retain possession and recycle the ball is Jairo - by a distance the best mid we have on the ball imo. Whether there is a system where we play Jairo and Gallagher together in complementary roles is another question. I suspect Jairo will become a vital cog in Vieira’s system, he will at last become the player I know he can be. I have no doubt him and Gallagher will play together

It is my 65th birthday tomorrow ( yep 10th birthday was 66 World Cup Final), presumably I am now officially an old fart but I am very happy with the transfer window and will raise a glass to DF and SP. If they bring in a wide right player ( not Stirlingsray ) , I will raise 2 glasses. Well done everyone with regard to the recruitment. It won’t be an easy ride initially but I am really looking forward to the season

Also, it's clear that DF and Co have done a lot of work in planning this window and hats off to them for it so far. Still a couple more to come I believe after Gallagher (assuming he's passed the medical).
