I'm afraid I don't follow the logic. Does the fact that Leicester and Man U have scored just three times the amount of goals from corners than Palace have excuse our woeful performance from set pieces? Bear in mind they also have far more in their armoury in other areas than we do to enable them to score goals too. People will find all sorts of reasons for defending Hodgson but some do defy credibility.

Regarding taking corners, it has been argued here that Kane took corners because he was considered the best at delivering the ball by Hodgson. Think about that briefly and then apply the same criteria to Milo.

We'll have to agree to disagree. It would be harsh to hold him solely responsible for this season and it has to be ackowledged that he did a decent job in his first season. But it is difficult to accept the reverence reserved for him by some as if he is a combination of Ferguson/Mourinho who is the only possible manager who could keep us up (despite Pulis, Pardew and Allardyce all achieving the same). The performances have been poor this season and this is partly attributable to Hodgson. Does that seem so unreasonable?

I'm not sure the existing squad will be injury-free enough to do it otherwise despite Roy's best efforts

I�m not a Hodgson �hater.� I recognise the good jobs he did at Fulham and WBA. He also presided over away wins at Man C and Arsenal for us in the same season which I was fortunate to witness.. Never thought I would see that and we managed to score 3 goals in both games. But we have to face the facts - that�s history. With more or less the same group of players we�ve never looked like scoring 3 goals in a game this season let alone actually scoring them in a single game. Surely it�s reasonable this season to query his overly defensive approach, reluctance to vary tactics and predictability. Let�s face it if the fans know what minute he�s going to substitute one defensive midfielder for another I�m pretty sure the opposing manager does to. He�ll probably stay and there may well be three worse teams next season as well. That will be enough for some fans but not others. Football is no different to other facets of life and you don�t go forward by standing still. Do even the Hodgson fans really trust him to enhance the development of the young players we are linked with the summer? Experience would tell us otherwise.

If we have money for the basis of a new team then a longer term manager needs to be appointed to shape the recruitment. Maybe worth the risk for long term gain. If we have another season of end-of-career and loan player recruitment, to make do, then we need to stick with Roy who will do a better, safer job than anybody else we may be able to get. I do agree our set pieces need a lot of work but I really cannot see this set of players playing an expansive game successfully however much we'd like it.

If we have money for the basis of a new team then a longer term manager needs to be appointed to shape the recruitment. Maybe worth the risk for long term gain.

If we have another season of end-of-career and loan player recruitment, to make do, then we need to stick with Roy who will do a better, safer job than anybody else we may be able to get.

I do agree our set pieces need a lot of work but I really cannot see this set of players playing an expansive game successfully however much we'd like it.
