I don't believe there is any appetite at this juncture to rid Roy Hodgson of his services as we are not in the relegation zone cut-adrift from the pack and there is a long way to go in the season.

And that's the truth of it... Roy is in his final season (as it stands currently) Unless we are in the relegation zone and starting to get cut adrift from the rest there is no way Parish will change things. New managers cost money and Parish will be reluctant to do that...

So unfortunately people we will have to put up with a style of football that I havent seen since Peter Taylor was in charge here and just suck it up.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

It's quite evident our squad isn't strong enough to play the sort of football it's attempting to play, doesn't make any difference who plays or in what position, no manager alive could change the way our players pass and move collectively.

The issue I see is that a whole raft of players are in the twilight of their careers and cannot perform to the level required on a consistent basis. They are not the players they once were.

A total of 15 of our squad are either about to reach 30 next year or are in their 30s and lack energy, pace and mobility.
They need to be replaced but I don't foresee a significant loosening of the transfer purse strings so challenging times lie ahead.
Hardly a good selling point when trying to attract a manager.

With respect Willo.

Going through yesterdays line up, only McArthur and Dann are 33. The rest have only recently turned 30 or are about too. That shouldn't be too much of a concern.

We have a glut of midfielders too, so I'm not sure why we are so reliant on McArthur.

The bigger concern is that we are sticking with a formation thats not working which requires playing 4 players out of position.

Looking at the squad in general we have 15 players nearing 30 or already into their 30s and they lack vibrancy, energy and pace and of course injuries take longer to heal.Far too many players in the twilight of their careers.

In terms of midfield, Meyer is out of the equation and Kouyate who is a midfielder by trade has had to be deployed in central defence.

Apropos formation, I suspect to see a change against Leicester.

Are you referring to the football we were playing before Eze because I thought some of our passing was quite pleasant against Liverpool and Villa although our finishing and final ball is nowhere near good enough, MOTD commented that our football is much better to watch now, the problem we have is having the players to make the most of it.

Now I have slept on that team performance yesterday and it wasn’t just that storm that kept me awake. I think Milo and Jimmy Mac are finished they are not box to box midfielders now, age has caught up with them.

The defence needs a complete make over and again age has caught up with them. We have younger players we need to start using them more often to take the burden off the older players. We know it takes time to rebuild an ageing squad, but we have got to start somewhere. This is starting to remind me of what happened to Stoke City, an established Premiership team full of ageing pros, lack of investment in the squad was their downfall, and now look at them.

The people at the top can see what is happening at Palace. The Americans if they are not willing to help, then please just leave, you have nothing to offer us to take us to the next level, it’s not like you haven’t had the time to do anything. We are just about keeping our heads above water, but sooner or later our luck will run out and we will be the next Stoke City...

Totally agree. His efforts are judged cumulatively not on 2 bad results . Yes I’d like someone else but tbh there is no one more risk averse than RH currently. Sad but true ...

Dust ourselves off and go again, I’m afraid. We’ll pick up the necessary points to stay up and that’s all we can expect and hope for ... IMHO

You can understand can't you what the addition of just one quality player in Eze can have on a squad because we can all see it can't we, so you can then understand the difference that just one or two who aren't quite at the races can make to a team regardless of who or where they're playing, quality has nothing to do with age.

But what are they trying to play? This team looks like a Sunday pub team! No shape (Roy's speciality subject), no discipline, no desire - all facets of the game that fall under Roy's jurisdiction. Roy gives them instructions and sends them out to play, what you see is his planning. Or is PVA always out of position because he doesn't listen to Roy's instructions? If so, why is he always selected? I thought Roy (according to Ray) was one of those types that if you don't do as he says, you don't get a look in?
It seems to me that Roy has lost the players, they look confused and leaderless, with no clear idea of what they need to achieve and how to achieve it.
Of course there is no excuse for the obvious lack of effort, but again this stems back to the manager - it's his job to motivate and inspire, but if you listened to the Villa post match interview, Roy is uninspiring, snappy and defensive, with the usual "if this if that" waffle.
The cold fact of the matter is the players didn't react to the thumping by Liverpool, facing a team down to 10 men for 45 minutes. As a manager paid to sort that stuff out, Roy failed.

Until we bring in new players with similar ability to Eze.

What style is that we have no style the players have given up the hungry players aint given no chances our best player has tried to leave 3 seasons in a row our CBs can't stay fit for more then 2 games we have a top LB prospect on the bench with a s***e one on the pitch despite Mitchell playing better. We have luka as captain who shouldn't even be on the pitch McCarthur who is 33 being asked to run around like a nutter. Its nonsense Roy is taking us down the last 30 games have been as bad as Pardews run. Allardyce came in and got more out of the squad I believe we can get somebody else who can to.

Allardyce was given transfer funds, signing PVA, Sakho (Loan), Schlupp and Milivojevic.

He arrived when we were 17th and only a point clear of the relegation zone and in such circumstances 'Boards' might be more willing to invest to keep their team in the PL.We are better placed now, then we were when Allardyce joined.
