Yeah, you're right. Just have the club replace him. With? Bielsa? Oh yeah, I forgot, he's itching to get away from the club he got promoted! Santo, of course! He's ready to walk out of Wolves! You idiots live in a dreamland. Watford owners might not understand football, so they replace a lot of managers, and that unsettles the team, which eventually leads to relegation. Shall we copy them. Get a grip you morons.

If in doubt, plunge into the offensive word pool. Most of you on here can’t debate. If someone doesn’t like your way of thinking you turn to personal abuse.

MacArthur and McCarthy were lauded for their performances at United but also didn’t pass the ball forward enough either albeit there was an element of Kante possibly the best holding midfield player in the world breaking things up all time.
At 2-0 McArthur hung a lovely ball up in the six yard box that just needed someone to attack and head in. Sakho had a nightmare and things then fell apart.
The manager can only do so much and sometimes you need to look at the players.

Have you considered that this is because we have wingers playing at centre forward.

You make it sound almost personal. I certainly don’t hate Roy, I just don’t like his brand of football which I consider old fashioned. Nothing guarantees safety btw.

The only thing personal is the fact we all want the same thing, which is goals goals goals and, good solid defending, Roy has when all fully fit a good solid bunch of defenders to pick from and he understands how to coach them into keeping us in this league which is what he's achieved very well so far improving year on year and this has been done without the very very necessity of a decent Murray/Benteke type player to make the most of any opportunities that come along high and low.

Eze looks very good on the ball and Chelsea dealt with him with countless fouls when the score was 0-0 and 1-0 and 2-0, this is going to happen to him and Ayew and Zaha every game until we can find a good out and out striker to occupy opposing players away from them enough to help our attacks, this is all just to fill in the gap until our very decent manager leaves and the new one appears who I also hope will play the football you so desire.

I did not mean to be personal to you or any of the other fans who want to see Mr Hodgson go, I see it as frustration on my part, often I don't even look at the poster's name when I respond at the beginning.

In the final analysis, Roy Hodgson has secured PL survival in successive seasons on a relative pittance and on the back of long-term injuries.

Supporters might get frustrated at the style of play and the dearth of goals but PL survival is the sole aim of the club and he has met his objectives. The end has justified the means.

Eaglecoops, Tim Gypsy Hill '64 actually wants the same as you which is again entertaining football with lots of goals and good defending ..who doesn't? he is also a passionate Palace fan like you, me and everyone else on here, we all want the same flipping thing OK. It is called frustration, we are all just fighting over the frustration of each other.

I agree with what you say but I do consider us one dimensional in our play.

Roy in my opinion is the best defensive coach in the league however this comes at the expense of our forward play. How many times have we seen matches start brightly and then before long we are defending deeper and deeper until the only offensive option we have left is the counter attack, which is normally nipped in the bud by a niggly professional foul. Once we drop off into this defensive mindset we struggle to get out of it. Chelsea played well the other day but they knew exactly what we were going to do and were prepared to stifle it.

Roy has done well but until he has a noticeable plan b or plan c that he is willing to back with a swift change of personnel and set up, I believe we will continue to see the same pattern of play and more particularly against the teams that dominate possession.

Please lets all be grateful for what Roy has done under the most difficult of circumstances to name but a few, lack of investment in the team by the board, an aging squad, a super star who does not want to play for us and who sulks a lot when he does not get his own way, a Chairman who extends contracts on rubbish or injury prone strikers and we also have several player that are prone to injury as soon as they put their boots on. Yet despite all this Roy has kept us in PL with a fairly average squad and by doing so has generated significant revenue for the club. The style of football might not be to everyone's liking (we are all different, which makes the world interesting), but its gets us over the line even without the striker that Roy has been asking for over the past few windows. When Roy does eventually retire, we will need to find a replacement but those who think we can attract top Managers to a club that has a dysfunctional board, who will not invest in the team are delusional. Many of Roy's predecessors walked away from this club because of the lack of desire to invest in the team and until that changes it is what it is!

We are caught between devil and the deep blue sea. Yes, Roy won't be around for too much longer but you wonder what sort debacle we will get ourselves into trying to source a new manager ?

Unfortunately this is the bottom line. He has year on year achieved his ultimate objective. I detest his style of football. Last season was awful turning up to the ground with such apathy. I understand where we are with the owners and club yet I believe we could be doing more with what we have. Regrettably I understand why he is still with us and I am grateful for what he has done for us. I understand the risk of when he does go but I cannot help wanting more from my club in the best league in the world with all the resources and riches it brings.
