For a club our size we really do need to start producing or buying more players with the potential to turn us a tidy profit. I imagine the AWB money is the only reason we have Eze, who at the moment looks like a fantastic acquisition. The signings of Ferguson and Mateta also point in the right direction, while Mitchell is getting games under his belt.

What I would love to know is how much say Roy has in the club's signings. He seems to put a lot of distance between himself and the decision to sign players, which if it is the case could be an issue for any new manager. Also, if it is Dougie & Co taking the decisions then are they buying players to fit a certain style, and if so perhaps that would point to the type of manager we will eventually look for.

Whatever anyone thinks of Roy staying on as manager, at 73 he is not the long-term option.

The one exception to my comment was against wolves when he moved eze to no.10 and put wilf wide. It gave us more attacking threat through the middle and an extra man in centre midfield. Worked well, team looked much more balanced, played some good football and won. Has he played that system again since? No, back to 442 with no penetration through the middle and overrun in midfield.....

Your reference to North Korea is puerile at best, come up with something better. I have not said we should be happy clappy at all. However when I read a lot of this forum especially a match thread where we go a goal behind and read some of the vitriol that is spouted against the players and the Manager of the club I have supported since a boy I have to question whether they are real fans at all. Reasoned criticism is different to the continual bitching and moaning that goes on. FFS
can't people enjoy watching when we can see world class players even if they are on the other side. Yes there were exciting times in the past when we winning 9-2, 9-0, and watching Johnny Byrne in action. But those days are long gone and we have to live in the present and the reality is we are in the top league in Europe with teams awash with money and huge stadiums and it's not easy without the big money men to get us where we would all like to be. Meanwhile we are 13th in this league with 29 points so we can't be as bad as all that or we would be below Sheff Utd and propping up the league and heading for the Championship.

I doubt very much anyone involved in the club is very impressed with the situation as it is now, the time has arrived now to do something and I'd be amazed if at this stage next season everything as we see it now is exactly the same, the powers that be must be aware of our plight because if not we are most certainly going to be involved in a nasty relegation fight and our problems will follow us into the Championship if we go down.
