I think it tells us that Hodgson, probably wasn’t the best manager in history.
I don’t think anyone is saying or thinks Hodgson, is , or was the best manager in the world.
But his career has not been all bad either. Taking Fulham, to a major European final was a great achievement, and leaving them as a solid Premier side, giving West Brom, their best seasons for some times . And his record all around Europe, has mainly been considered successful.
I would see him moving over now, but only because he has probably done all he can with this lot. Let someone else see what they can do.
But if you look at ,Fulham, W B, neither improved after he left them, and they are completely comparable to us, other than to say he possibly got a little more out of both of them.

Great post. A very fair assessment IMO.

Is it the role of fans to be able to provide a viable alternative manager before venturing an opinion as to whether Hodgson should stand down at the end of the season?
This is clearly absurd.
How many of us are directly involved in the industry, have contacts with the agents/representatives of managers or any awareness at all of the managerial market?
Were Leicester fans wrong to look for a managerial change when Puel was in charge because they didn’t know who might be able to replace him? Look at them now - playing attractive football and showing real signs of improvement.
Taking into account Hodgson’s age, I’m sure Parish will be aware of the managerial market and viable options.
And I’ve no doubt there would be plenty of candidates.
As others have pointed out there’s a healthy salary on offer and the nucleus of a decent squad, albeit one that will need refreshment; as Parish has acknowledged and started to implement.

I get the impression from this board, the BBS poll and social meeja that there is a ground swell that want him gone now rather than the end of the season. So the natural question is who to replace him with.

If results slide so badly that relegation becomes a real risk then you'd expect the Board to change things and put the brakes on. However, I would reckon that any decent replacement that they'd want long term will already be in a job but potentially available in the summer.

We need about six to seven more points in order to be OK this season mainly because although fantastic on the eye for their passing and movement Fulham really are too feeble in attack to really get themselves out of the mess they're in, they need to start winning now and then win every other game in order to achieve 39 points, they are not going to be able to catch us if we have 35/36 points, more to do with the teams below us, if we continue though as we are for next season then we are really really asking for trouble but having said that hopefully next season the virus will be under reasonable control and the season should go along as normally planned resulting in our players having the correct amount of time to recover due to their age.

Easy for RH to blame his results on not having better players. What does his Liverpool and England experiences tell us about his capabilities?

Liverpool were struggling at the time especially with their American owners and Roy wasn't allowed much time because they require instant returns even if behind the scenes they were having problems, I read somewhere that even one of their older big stars said as much and that Roy was treated unfairly I can find this if you don't believe me, but in hindsight Roy was probably not the right person for them and with the England job he definitely got short changed from his players in that Iceland game, too many just didn't turn up for it and Kane wanted to do the corners because he was the best at it before you mention that crap about him doing them lol, the players failure was also mentioned in the papers at the time and I can also find that if you so desire.

So in your opinion 23 year old (at the time) Kane said to Roy I'm taking the corners because I'm best it and Roy had no input into it - are you for real..!!

Even if that was remotely true, what would that say about Roy as an England Manager or Manager at any level in that scenario.

Jeez..!!

Loving how Barnsley are sticking it to Chelsea. Great pressing game. Viva Israel.

In short, that appears to be true whether you are watching it live and having to experience the dross we play, or utilising facts to justify it.

I think it is only 2 in 21 we have won without Zaha and hardly scored a goal in the process? That is a damning statistic for sure.

Since the beginning of 2014-15 when Zaha re-joined us from Man.U we've lost 89.4% of games without him ..are you suggesting the same for all the managers we've had since? lol, Spurs struggle without Kane although not as obvious as Zaha with us it is noticeable, I feel you've just jumped on this without thinking it out because having a really top class player amongst a group of just good players is always going to play out the same way it has with us, when Mr Hodgson took over the England job the squads average age was like we are now over 30 and he along with Ray Lewington and Gary Neville rebuilt the whole team to an age of 23/24 ..no one knows that or wants to mention it lol and what has our manager been doing recently with us ..oh he's brought in Ferguson, Eze, Mateta, Mitchel and Riedewald, but it's much more fun to find things to have a go at our manager about isn't it.

Maybe but it would include motivation, setting the bar a damn sight higher and getting the absolute best out of the players under his management. It’s about more than survival.

Just talking about this. Has good managerial experience and meets Parish’s Palace connection criteria. One to look out for

Kane was head and shoulders above anyone else at the time with basically kicking the ball at distance anywhere, at the time of the loss Gary Neville said the decision was happily decided between everyone because everyone decided we had enough good players in the box to cause them enough problems especially with excellent balls in ..and you haven't got to do the Jeez..!! for the benefit of others reading.

He was brought in to steady the ship only, this he had achieved with brass knobs on, it is not his fault that the club has failed to attract the correct applicants to take over and achieve what you and I and everyone else wants.
