Gary Neville as his coach was quoted as saying he pleaded with Hodgson to make changes but met with no response from Hodgson.

As fans I suppose our views are sometimes determined by our preconceived view of a manager.Some critics of Hodgson quote his records with Liverpool and England to support their argument.
Others such as yourself have total respect for him and won't accept any criticism of him whatsoever.
I think it's reasonable to occasionally criticise,even if one is generally supportive of a player or manager.
For example I'm a huge fan of Zaha, but am not blind to his faults as a player.

I of course have a great deal of respect for Mr Hodgson but I can only repeat that no manager is above criticism.

One can consider individual games and question certain team selections and the choice and timing of substitutions but overall he has performed with some aplomb ensuring that we have stayed in the PL with an ageing squad and a £10 Mill net-spend.

I don't care what views people have but when the starting point is something like " I don’t like Roy’s tactics, I never have, whether he was at England, Liverpool or Palace. I hate his style of football and as such I would rather he was out the club as soon as we can find a suitable replacement. If he plays more attacking footy and we put in performances he may win games and the fans back, that is the real crux of it I feel. He can do that as hes done it in the past. Why not now is baffling as basically he has the same squad. One day we will drop, its inevitable most teams do. Championship footy was great until it became a business!

I think you partly answer your own question. Same squad yes... but older. Not the only issue but a big one + injuries.

As for championship footy being great...I can certainly remember some woeful seasons down there and would like to avoid going back for as long as possible.

A I haven't had any contact or discussion with either the chairman or with sporting director on that subject.

It's quite possible that behind the scenes agents are talking and the club are talking, but as far as I know there's no definite steps being taken either one way or the other. But I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of talk is going on in the background.

I think that there are a dozen players whose contracts expire at the end of the season and the manager doesn't know who's contracts will be renewed and who will be allowed to leave.
