This puts it into perspective. Although I do tend to agree with those who reckon the big six will be shown less often now so the the pay per view numbers are kept up. I know you can normally stream a match, but given the cost do you not think there will be a load of guys chipping in and watching it round one house. Perfect for Covid!

People need to reject these prices. Perhaps in this sea of sh1t one silver lining is that eventually the obscene levels of money in top tier football comes down....and that eventually what was always the sport of the working class is forced to come back to them. Yup I don't agree with the logic they are saying that Man United fans will pay more but that is only if their games are not shown on the regular channels I think it will be the opposite. The fans of the smaller clubs like Palace will be the ones shelling out more. Sky will still put the big 6 on their main channels. All this does is highlight a point I made many years ago that the big 6 fans are subsidised by the rest of us. If you are a Millwall / Charlton fan you pay the same as a big 6 supporter for Sky yet how many games do you get to see. I don't agree with the pricing but it will be interesting to see at the end of the season how many games each club were on and how many were PPV. I can see a chart showing Palace fans shelling out more money that a big 6 fan.

We have to hope that Sky etc will not record attendance for their matches. The nightmare is the stranger who "attends" four Palace matches and is then rewarded with an entitlement - as a loyal supporter - to be the first (before us ST Holders) to purchase a 2021/2022 Season Ticket.

Good article but tbf not sure why he has singled out Parish. Has he ever called out the big clubs for paying ridiculous salaries why small clubs are dying? What about the players, could they not contribute, cerium the present times?

Excellent article. You just feel that at some point the walls are going to come tumbling down for Sky and the PL. Football needs a realism reset, maybe Covid is the catalyst.

I am in favour of showing the EXTRA games as PPV whilst crowds can not attend, however the benefits should not be weighted towards Sky / BT and the Premier League teams. £15 is an extortionate amount to be charging people in the current circumstances. Only if a significant portion of the income was being allocated to the Lower Leagues and Non- League teams would I feel differently. What’s wrong with charging circa £6.99 per game. The overall income will be similar because far more people are likely to see that as a fair price and will be more likely to pay it. The overheads remain the same but far more people will be able to watch the matches. £15 is scandalous. Edited by Phil’s Barber (11 Oct 2020 9.08am)

The cost of putting a football match on tv now is massively reduced. Two commentators, an editing crew parked in a truck outside and however many cameramen they choose to utilise. The potential profit margin is enormous. Imagine the PR they could reap off this if they said it’s £10 per game but £5 of that goes to the league clubs outside the PL. I know that gesture would have a significant impact on my decision as to whether to contribute. What they are currently doing is turning everyone against them. Greedy, greedy bar stewards.

No more 'Sunday Supplement', no more 'Goals on Sunday'. I was also irked when the 'Boot Room' was discontinued a few years ago. All this incessant apologising for fruity language has also got on my darned wick but this might be SKY having to adhere to broadcasting rules.
