Life being harder, poorer, less choice these are the brexit benefits they set up a department to look for.

Cattle love turnips and so should voters, it is good for you.

Eat up your sovereign turnip pizza free of Brussels and be proud to be ridiculous.

It looks like you've said very little politely enough. Handbags all round. The thread isn't called bloviating so less pointless yap wouldn't go amiss.

You think I have been impolite? I asked a pertinent question didn't I? Was that rude?

I don't generally use cliches or U.S. words, but as you do, shouldn't your username be "soccerthoughts"?

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

I offer no excuses for Brexit. I offer reasons. There is a difference.

Democratic cannot be used as an adjective to describe a referendum in the UK. There is no place in our democracy for them, other than as non-binding consultations.

But you would vote in a referendum to rejoin I guess !

Perhaps you really cannot see how your above contradictions totally destroy your argument. I hope others can. I am sure some will, but perhaps not all.

Your argument is that we had sovereignty because we were able to invoke Article 50 to escape from the EU.
It is like a masochist escaping from a beating by using a safe word.

I know. Day to day life has been more than enough to prove that one out.

The thing you're accusing me of, you are now demonstrating in equal measure. Clearly having limited success in a forgotten corner of the medical profession gives you some strange sense of scientific godliness. Disillusioned, ostracised, whatever keeps your fire burning. Currently, discovering basic labelling and colours. How wonderful.

I gave two answers to 'how it would be measured'. One was an (as labelled, clearly) unscientific guess, a musing, based on personal reasoning, the other a suggestion as to where or how one might actually find a credible scientific/statistical answer.

Nowhere did I state 'this is the answer! Answer here... Right here! I'm an expert and I've spent years focused on this one thing... and here it is!' Don't be so silly.

Do you equate intelligence with being an expert in everything? Because someone intelligent would also know that is an impossibility, and that's certainly not how I present my side in debates.

Do please return to withering away in retirement and take that massive chip on your shoulder with you.

It is very funny someone comments on the intelligence of other posters then make a major error of knowledge.

It's AU CONTRAIRE FFS

Really, that's too funny.

Thank you SW19 for providing a laugh

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Our elected parliament (eventually) decided to implement the result of the consultation, so that process conformed to your idea of democratic and lawful process. (An idea that you of course do not extend to the EU.)

I would decide that at the time, in the prevailing circumstances and only after objecting to the need to hold one.

If it was made very plain that it was merely a nationwide consultation of current opinion, a kind of super opinion poll, following a national debate, but that the final decision rested with Parliament, then possibly. In such circumstances a 48:52 result would not be regarded by Parliament as decisive and all the contributory factors would have enabled them to avoid the disaster.

Not at all.

Facts don't demand arguments in their favour. They stand alone.

We are, and have always been, a sovereign nation.
