Its goodbye to the Orient Express.

'Orient express to axe UK section after 41 years due to brexit'.

Travel to and from Europe has become onerous and often such a hassle, my hotel has no EU visitors before we were full.

New biometric exit/entry and further passport checks about to compound an already disastrous situation.

Whatever did the UK think it was doing.

Sorry not buying it as an excuse.

I looked at traveling on the Orient Express pre Brexit and pre COVID. You don't actually pick up THE train until you have crossed the channel. At the time they weren't even offering the the Pullman to the channel. I read the reviews of passengers all said the UK leg was a waste of money as the carriage was not up to standard.

Considering you are paying the best part of £10k you would expect something special. Since then they have now introduced the Pullman but overall the journey is very expensive and only goes to Venice, hardly the Orient Express.

I think this is more about a poor offering then Brexit, granted the passport checks don't help but it doesn't stop people traveling today via other means.

I decided it wasn't value for money I suspect many other people feel the same.

Still trust the Guardian to blame Brexit and not challenge the company PR.

Nonsense, its seamless and an epic journey.

Losing the British Pullman was a “huge shame”, he said. “The British Pullman was the hors d’oeuvre – it set you up with smoked salmon and champagne on the way from London to Folkestone on the traditional boat-train route that passengers heading to the Orient Express would have used in the 1930s. Joining the continental train at Calais in time to get dressed for dinner was wonderful.”

Brexit is total failure, and everybody really knows it.

When they admit it, and only then, the UK can begin to improve.

Maybe the rail workers striking hasn’t helped, as well? But hey, let’s just blame Brexit

I suspect Badger has looked into this more than you Steeley. Don’t see you as a Champagne and smoked salmon type of guy.
Surprised to see you still living in the awful Brexit ridden UK

You are wrong I drink champagne and smoke cigars all day, just like Churchill.

He would never have done anything so dumb as brexit, neither would Thatcher.

Or any other sensible person.

One of the reassuring things about whether voting for Brexit was for the best is that people like you think it was not.

Another lovely personal message from this keyboard warrior!! You seem to have got more confident in espousing your vitriolic views as time has passed; I would be guessing that you are an older male who has grown up in a different era.
Maybe you have some loose allegiance to CPFC although its hard to determine from your posts. Oh well, each and everyone is entitled to express what they want I suppose - just a shame its often so personal whether to WE or Steeleye!

At what age does a person have to be before you simply dismiss their views? When did the current era start?

Certainly I have been a CPFC fan from the age of 12.

Steeleye is a crypto-communist who continually posts anti-British drivel and is fair game.

Wisbelch is disingenuous and pompous, pretends to be some sort of Conservative while spouting left/liberal nonsense and is also fair game.

Whereas you are bright as a button. A total legend and well suited to destroying the logic of the foolish. Well done you.
