Not once have I said that we should stick with the same team.

Not your place to say if a 16 year old is good enough, and yet you '' guaranteed '' he can pass better than our existing midfield...just one small problem - you haven't seen him play.

If i do have a problem it's when I read people that - in my humble opinion - are spouting bollix.

You've mainly misconstrued my points and taken, what wasn't meant to be an argument, to an extreme. You stated I've never watched the underage. I have the games as part of my membership. I don't actually watch them much and honestly haven't paid a massive amount of attention to it. My point about it not being up to me whether they are any good or not, is that it is up to scouts etc. People who work in football. My comment about guarantee they can pass better is a comment, perhaps you think unfairly, on our midfield. Basically, should say something like my Gran could pass better, God Rest! But I do understand your sentiments. Taking my posts entirely literally would often look like total bull. Some are just bollox. I suppose it's one of those communicating on a forum but not quite getting being able to quite get the tone of the message across things.

I agree with the sentiment on this post in that our midfield was both out run and out muscled by West Ham's and it was not until West Ham tired in last 10 mins did we get back into the game. Townsend was far to often brushed off ball by Rice it was embarrassing. Question is will he be up against such a strong player against Wolves? If he won't then give him another game. I did think Ridewald did enough to warrant a place in starting 11 when he came on. Do you play him instead of McCarthur or Luka or with them in which case do you drop Townsend or Eze. Could we go down the Man City route and play with no recognised striker and leave Bats and Benteke on the bench and play Zaha as a false 9. Then what happens if we play long balls?

Well on my part I apologise for any offence caused.

Ultimately we all want the same thing, and right now we have a very frustrating situation. Let's hope our team of geriatrics can somehow conjure up 3 points tomorrow.

Unless we make changes, I can’t see us winning, there’s certainly nothing to suggest we will. We’ve lost our last 3 against wolves and they are a better team than us. Albeit having a mediocre season much like ourselves. I’m hoping Roy doesn’t do Roy and it’s ‘same again boys’. Hopefully he’ll set the tone with some changes. Other than that it’s all on Wilf!

It is time for a shake-up of the team. I love Guaita and put very little blame on him for the results of late, but I go for Butland in goal.
Clyne - Cahill - Tomkins/Dann - Mitchell with Kouyate left out. He could easily have cleared the ball before 1st WH goal, gave away the free-kick that resulted in the second, and served Antonio on the platter straight after. Luckily he hit the post.
Midfield of Riedewald -Luka - McArthur - PVA
Eze - Zaha on top.
Please no Townsend and Benteke, let our new striker in 2nd half (if needed).

Thanks, let's hope. Finding it a pretty hard watch at present. Some of the team's problems are understandable - defensive injuries, strikers on poor form etc. But our midfield issue is of our own making, we have no choices and no way of changing up. It didn't look so stark at the beginning of the season but to see Macca and Luka huff and puff to catch players up and down the pitch without respite is getting ridiculous. I don't hold much hope for Wolves - basically their physicality, pace and better accuracy should see them through. I'd take a draw - even a bloody nil, nil.

I'd like to see

Guaita

Clyne Cahill Tomkins/Dann Mitchell

Reidelwald Kouyate PVA

Eze

Zaha Mateta

Luka and Jimmy Mac's legs have gone imho, Townsend is poor lately, Mateta is likely hungrier than Bats and more mobile than Benteke and Kouyate will give the DM steel to enable Jairo and PVA some licence to link up. And PVA can occupy Wolves in their own half to reduce the pressure coming at us from wide.

And EZE in CAM - go on Roy, you know it makes sense...

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

It's not a bad point as in if we can narrow the pitch we are forcing them to come around us. I just suspect that their wide quality is going to cause us trouble. I can already see their full backs marauding up the wings whilst we get caught in possession constantly.

If it is true that our loan deal with Mainz requires us to purchase Mateta after he has made 15 STARTS then don't expect him to start tomorrow. He'll probably be on the bench and may well come on for the last 20. Also, if that loan requirement is true, I would expect Hodgson will have been told to engineer team selection so that Mateta DOESN'T make 15 starts this season, so the club doesn't have to pay anything before next season.

Or am I just being cynical?

So kind of a diamond shape in midfield then? It would certainly suit Eze, but I've never seen a premier league team consistently use that formation. I think it just surrenders the wide areas too much, and it's not clear who will pick up the opposing fullbacks when we don't have the ball.

Thing is, unless they play upfront as a pair, at least one of Eze or Zaha will have to track back in the wide areas no matter what system we play.

I'd go for:

Guaita
Clyne Cahill Tompkins Mitchell
Kouyate McCarthy
Zaha Eze PVA
Mateta

I think you have to pick a formation that fits your best eleven players.
We have been letting in a lot of goals and that needs to stop.
I'd definitely drop Townsend and Benteke and play 4-5-1 with what we have now. I'd stick Reidewald in the middle with McArthur and Mila just behind and play the new guy up front on his own with Wilf and Eze as free role wingers.

Is it me? 90% of you have picked Clyne in favour of Ward. To me since his return he is nowhere near as good a defender as Ward, he looks nervous on the ball and can't wait to get rid of it hence often landing us in it with poor balls. Defensively our two full backs must be Ward & Mitchell. Central if both fit Tomkins & despite his lack of pace Dann. Plus two defensive midfielders.
With these we might get back to keeping a few clean sheets.
