According to an item in the Mail this morning Palace have losses of around £20m and 'certain figures' at the club feel that extending Roy's contract is the best option. Status Quo looks likely if that's the case.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

The 'stately ornament' that is Steve Parish is not only a gentleman of articulacy and personal charm he possesses a razor-sharp clear strategical mind and is a perspicacious chappie to boot.

Status Quo looks likely if that's the case. Question is if those losses are last season or this season with no ticket sales and a lot less merchandise sales or anything apart from tv money. I expect all clubs will have this problem, but more so than us. We still have losses though, but if the transfer market doesn’t adjust then (some of) the clubs will.

Spurs must be suffering as their gate income needs to pay for the new ground. However, we do have the highest wages % of revenue in the Prem so a 15% reduction (based on £150m rev as per last accounts) will be hurting us. Regarding Roy - whilst i feel the club will offer him anew contract i'm now not sure if he will accept it. He's 73 so clearly doesn't need to money. Whilst i'm not enjoying the football he must get huge credit for the last 4 years.

Good points you make P99 and having just celebrated with my wife our Golden Wedding last weekend, I agree with Willo that Roy may well want to wind down. If he feels like me after 50 years he'll want a medal too.

I think it was at the end of our second season in our current spell in the Premier League that I heard Steve Parish say in an interview that the club have to get away from being in "firefighting" mode each season. An admirable aim but not one that seems to have been achieved. I assume that, as a businessman, SP does have a business plan, but apart from aiming to finish above 18th place each season, it is not a very clear one. I think the thing pretty well every fan feels concerned about is how we have got into the position of having around 11 ( depending on ones individual viewpoint) players who are now either getting too old and/or are not up to standard. You can add to that a couple who seem very injury prone i.e. Tomkins and Schlupp. People say that we need a major clear out in the summer but how can we afford that? Most of the players we might consider surplus to requirements will fetch very little in the transfer market and we would have to spend a lot more than we receive to replace them. We may muddle through with the odd loan and out of contract freebies, but it is going to take some time to
