Doesnt matter how it compares to team mates as the question was about him. I like townsend, hes been great for us. But he could be the best tackler in the league
but he should be picked for his offensive play and his stats are pretty awful there too. even you must admit his performances have been getting rapidly worse this season.

Team mates receive the ball and give the ball, if he receives the ball in an inappropriate moment or place it's going to not favour him ..same the other way of course but considering the quality of some of our passing and movement off the ball is plainly below par compared to other teams in and around us you get the idea that his team mates do have an impact on each others ratings during a game, Watching Townsend play a wonderful ball across the opposition defence to a striker who isn't able to move properly or not concentrating is going to make his attempted pass look silly.
I think players are only as good as the players they play with hence Zaha wanting away through pure frustration.

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate him of course.
Only winning games with him is not about him as a player (he is non existent in 40-50% games, last night included, it's about the Management of the situation when he is not on the pitch. The Management don't have a plan B after "lump the ball to Wilf and sit back and watch!"

Think you miss the point. Wilf playing attracts attention and forces the opposition to mark him tightly, often doubling up on him. This is theoretically creating more space for others. So when you say he is 'non existent in 40-50% of matches' you aren't grasping the effect he has on the opponent.

maybe you actually need to pay attention to stats...to my knowledge he has had most tackles per game on more than one occasion thos season.

But what are his stats like when it comes to losing the ball?

I don't wish the boy an injury.... But I will be happy not see his winging, sulky, miserable face on the pitch for a while.
Zaha is just turning into a petulant child, constantly complaining.
Ayew in particular, Eze, Jairo and Benteke all got hammered in that game and all of them got up, trotted off and back in their position.
Watch Zaha, sit on the floor and throw his hands in the air, not winning a freekick.
He has flashes of brilliance, but they are few and far between now. Build the team with the decent players we have - Eze is the man, Benteke up fron, and interchange with the new lad and Bats. that is a good forward line.

Maybe best you don’t apply to manage the Palace!

Doubt it, he will still be having lessons on how to be the third centre half for 50% of the game and having any technical ability schooled out of him.

Also at the end of this season he will only have two years left on his Contract, i dont think he will be offered 130k a week at 30 years old, so think he will go at the end of the season for about 25/30 million

If Bats & Benteke both play upfront, How many times will either or both of them be caught offside during the match?
I hope we get more than a decent glimpse of Mateta tonight.
Roy won't be brave enough to start him but lets hope he gets some minutes to show us what he can do!

11 men blockading the goal might work?

Will there be enough snow to build a defence out of snowmen? Bentenke could also ride a sledge to help him get around the pitch quicker.

Well done Roy! I like tonight's team. All those who said he wouldn't be brave enough to start Mateta - time for a helping of humble pie.
