Legally EUEFA argument doesn’t carry any weight. There is already case law on this from other sports. Football is about to face the biggest change since Sky.

Is playing for Ivory Coast more important to Wilf than earning a bigger fortune?

This is what i find interesting. The silence from FIFA has been deafening, UEFA can only ban players from playing in UEFA controlled comps, which includes the EURO's.

There are hundreds of African/Asian/South American etc etc players playing in Europe, UEFA has no say whether they can or cannot represent their countries, only the players of these 'ESL' clubs that represent Euro countries could/would be banned.

As someone has already mentioned, the lawyers will be licking their lips & rubbing their grubby hands in a gleeful froth.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I see so many benefits with the big clubs leaving. Top tier English football still has enough big exciting clubs with true fans that will make it good to watch.

The legal reptiles are already involved.

Come on Mr Parish, let's see you taking a stand in the national media on behalf of the real football clubs.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Weirdly, my book The Great Football Conspiracy predicted all this - money replacing fair competition, corporate greed, the elite pulling away...

Good point.

FIFA has it's own plans they want a proper world club championship modelled on the Champions League but with the money going to them rather than UEFA. This puts them in conflict with UEFA.

It's just possible that the 2 organisations will end up on both sides of the argument.

This is all such a surprise when football is managed so well. Qatar being a shining example.

Interesting article.

I'm Assuming that the clubs must have some form of agreement or registration with UEFA in able for them, and their players to participate in UEFA regulated competitions.

It interesting that this implies that there is no clause that may cover any such breakaway - however vague.

Surprising that the Lawyers have a chance of winning such a lawsuit.

If sacrificing those 6 teams is what it takes to create a truly competitive Premier League, albeit at a lower overall standard, where you don't have to play 1/3 of your games with 11 men behind the ball to try to prevent a drubbing, I'm okay with that.

Excellent summary of what many of us feel and have said.

I've been phantasising about the consequences of all this happening in quick time. Fulham (or whoever), WBA and Sheffield United will stay up, and the top 6 from the Championship will come up. 38 competitive and entertaining matches to look forward to next season. But, yes, phantasy I'm afraid.
season.
