Doesn't know the league, doesn't know the club, doesn't know the players, doesn't know the culture, the language (?), the market.

Probably doesn't even know where sainsburys car park is to get spotted there, and that will never do.

I thought previous Premier league experience was crucial?

He's a serial winner at many clubs, what's not to like?

Yeah, but Favre, ya know, exotic, almost like Faberge (now that's a name). Imagine the kudos man. We'll be almost there. It's like Waynetta Slob wanting a big black man so she can have a "brown baby". We'll fit in with everyone else.

He speaks fluent French, German, and English. What language were you thinking of?

What exactly do you mean when stating "doesn't know the league or players"? Elaborate on that specific statement.

If you know anything about the guy's track record, he's been managing for close to 30 years in 3 countries namely Switzerland, Germany and France.
Any manager that has chosen to manage in multiple countries over decades are obviously "students of the game" and would know of leagues beyond their immediate or previous places of occupation. In fact, our recently departed manager Mr Hodgson CBE would fit that description too, not least Mourinho as examples.

There is a certain mentality one has to have to want to venture your career abroad (not talking exclusively football here) and moreover to think a guy doesn't "know" the most watched league in the world
is not sensible deduction of reasoning.

In any case, his track record both in terms of player transfers and managing youth development (jude bellingham got significant game time under him) would actually be an asset to Palace in shrewd signings, especially with his more in-depth knowledge of both French and German football markets (would love to pick up another Kante or Mahrez bargain deal).

[Link]

Not having Premier league experience is a bit funny when you consider how many managers have come into the Premier league without it and been either very successful of late (Tuchel, Pep, Klopp) or adapted pretty quickly to its demands having been novices to the league itself (Biesla, NES, Hassenhutl).

ALL managers that Palace could potentially look to appoint come with risks, so yes all things being equal you'd want one with Premier league experience but there's a significant risk difference in hiring Favre vs Cooper when it comes to that deficit in their respective CVs lol

FYI Favre does speak decent English (alongside his fluent German and French)

[Link]

We're all patiently awaiting news of who our appointed manager will be, if it's Favre then I would think of it as a great appointment to support the rebuild, bring the youth into the side and evolve our style of play to attacking wing play built on defensive solidity over the course of at least 2-3 seasons efforts. BUT if not, so be it. Let's trust the board's judgement to get it right in the end hopefully.

Yes nice summary Mojo, he seems to tick a lot of those 'Palace' type boxes

Not sure how many of those things are crucial. Managing in the PL isn’t, in my opinion, IF you’ve had top flight experience and a decent and proven club management track record at the highest level elsewhere. (DF and Southgate, for example, don’t fit this bill). The rest is perhaps no different from a new player. Even the language hasn’t outwardly caused issues for Leeds manager. (But is not relevant as I understand this bloke speaks English).
BUT - the Sainsbury’s car park? Now that could be a problem.

Cracking response with concluding sentence particularly important...though I'm getting nervous that the days are really slipping away now given hard work that lies ahead with team rebuild before season starts again.

No idea if the link with Favre is true or not but he's the best of all the rumours so far and would be a very exciting appointment. As with all managers, he's a risk but no more than most of the others we have been linked with. Be nice if this could be concluded by the end of next week.

And meanwhile months after Roy Hodgson told the Board that he was leaving CPFC the Club start a new season managerless and with a squad of 20 players average age 21 years old.
The transfer window is now shut.
Dougie Freedman is in temporary charge as the Club hold talks with the 50th candidate in as many days.

I am not saying this will happen but it is a possible comedic end result of what is going on.
Other clubs have players contacts signed and done and some transfers are taking place.
To me this job needs sorting by Sunday night - although I cannot for one minute see it actually happening.
Eggs in one basket with Nuno has caused this and it seems to me as if the right questions were not asked at the start?
If they were and Nuno lied then let's hope he doesn't get another job in English football ever again!
