Didn’t even bother reading. Sick of the moaning and abuse hurled at club heroes who are doing their best. Very wokey. Sometimes in pro sport doing your best is not enough. Comments on here have not been attacking the club and it’s personnel. They have been about our dire situation and what can be done to change it. With the personnel we have today and no changes we are looking at relegation almost certainly. Is that what you want? Toughen up face the reality, accept that some of us care about winning and staying up. I have just paid for my season ticket and I like and I want premier football to stay at Selhurst. If we can’t reasonably comment on the problems the club has then we all become wokes. And most posters here are definitely not that. But we are all hard Palace men. You need to toughen up pal and face the facts or your heroes will all be gone. Fact.

You need to toughen up pal and face the facts or your heroes will all be gone. Fact. First up, I don’t need to toughen up one bit. Careful there. Secondly, I’m as far away from woke as it gets. All I’m saying is no one knows the bloody story and yet we’ve all hung Parish out to dry. It’s fine margins. If Favre signs, Parish is a hero who’s pulled off the coup of the season signing a manager of that ilk. Instead, an 11th hour change of heart (for personal reasons it sounds) and suddenly he’s incompetent and guilty or mismanagement etc. It’s fickle fans having no idea how the real world works. I for one am glad Steve’s in charge and I trust him to make the right decision for the club - like he’s always done.

Far too many on here are mistaking Parish aiming high for negligence.

On the Favre situation, I think most people have at times talked to other employers about open positions where its nice to be linked with opportunities, its nice to feel that your stock is suitably well thought of to be wanted, maybe you go along to the interviews hoping that something is going to click to make you take the offer seriously, both sides talk, eventually at a certain point in time it gets serious, at that point you have to sign, or make clear your reservations to see if you can get closer to each other or if the gap between the employers & employees thinking is too great then you walk away. My guess (and its only a guess) is that with our situation, (players /contracts / relegation prospects) the amount of money available to achieve what was required isn't realistic & by the time that became apparent we would be fast approaching Christmas & the board would then have to make a decision to further back the manager in the Jan transfer window or bring in another fireman Sam style saviour, either way it makes for a very bumpy ride. I think Palace’s version relating to Nuno is possibly near the truth, as similar happened at Everton. However, I cannot believe the Favre reasoning. If he wanted a longer break, he would not have even spoken to the Club. There was something that arose, late on, that had not been divulged before, actual transfer funds? Transfer targets? Dougie’s role? I doubt we will ever know Edited by Spiderman (27 Jun 2021 7.29am)

This is very well reasoned and likely to be close to the truth IMO. Only I would add that the club should have had a better plan of the direction in which they were going once they / Roy decided it was time to part company. I also think people have over estimated how attractive the job is likely to be to an established manager with a reputation to lose.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
