That said, I want him to be a success as much as anyone. But then there is the risk he might be a massive success and Arteta gets the boot. I think we all know what will happen then dont we!

He has been coaching for approaching ten years now and has already managed with moderate success at New York and Nice. He is not a total novice I don�t know why people keep repeating this mantra.

Beers not being right at Selhurst sums up Palace. They have little organisational ability to deliver simple things properly. They are far too tight. I know it was only an interview , but I was impressed by the first one that Vieira gave to Palace TV. He appears clear sighted and I noted a few things; his commitment to the team scoring goals , having more shots on goal and using more young players. These are things many of us have been crying out for in recent times. It would not be a good idea to go into the new season with just the injury prone Tomkins, Kouyate and Kelly as central defender options so clearly this area needs addressing quickly. We must have a solid defensive platform to work from first to give us the scope to address the areas that Vieira hignlighted.
