If you look at the Sunderland fans' forum you will see that they are p*ssing themselves (with laughter) at the thought of us taking this bloke off them. I'm not sure I necessarily trust their judgement of a player but it does give pause for thought.

I wonder why we are signing him as I very much doubt whether the manager has even heard of him let alone seen him. My guess is that he is cheap and paid considerably less than the existing third choice whom he will replace Edited by Midlands Eagle (13 Jul 2021 7.22am)

Looking at Wiki he has not had a distinguished career but as it is only 3rd choice I'm OK with that if replacing Hennessy reduces the wage bill.

I note that at 6ft, he is not that tall for a goalkeeper. I tried to ascertain what Matthews brings to the table as I know precious little about him and the reply I got was that he was a good kicker of a ball!

Not too bothered about this !!! He is 3rd choice goalkeeper and will probabaly never play for first team. He is cheaper than WH and Henderson. My only concern is why not use one of the U23 keeper as cover and save the wages
