My feeling is that only Armstrong is a key target I suspect the others we would like but are not prepared to to get into a bidding war with other clubs.

Nelson I think will be a loan unless Arsenal receive a bid so maybe a deadline day job.

Hughes I don't see as guaranteed a place in the team so only if the money is right.

We will probably pick up another CH.

As for Armstrong I think Norwich and Southampton need him more than us so it could get messy I guess it depends on how much money we have left. The worry is that we don't seem to have an alternative if we lose out.

Kabak you mean?

Click bait also linking us with Nketiah but suspect that is rubbish.

A right back with a good whipped cross on him, and I'd be getting excited. Would enhance Benteke's game no end.

Ward has been a hero and a servant but I think he might struggle in a more attacking team.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Norwich seem to have turned to a cheaper option from Germany, whether as an alternative is not clear.

If they’re not buying then Blackburn could struggle to get an auction going. And as others have said, really AA has the power here. If he stays Blackburn will get next to nothing in January or zilch in a year.

Did they ever make a bid or was that Blackburn ?

You can't have an auction if there is only one bidder. I don't blame Blackburn for trying it on but I think Parish is too cute to fall for that. We will only buy if he is happy with the price no need to panic.

It is believed Norwich’s bid is still on the table and is the biggest ‘package’ for Rovers

We hold the upper hand here.. It would seem that we would like him but we are not absolutely desperate.
Blackburn know if a deal is not done in this window then they will probably only get £5 or £6m in January if they're lucky or worse case scenario they get nothing at the end of the season.

I would be very surprised if we pay more than £14m for him.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Has the air to me of one of those that will run and run.

I wouldn't rule out other clubs getting involved. WH appear to be angling after Tammy Abraham and desperately need another striker but they're into cheese paring mode and went heavy with success into the Champo market last time and I could well see them making a late move this time too.

From memory they came in quite late with Benrahma who was said to be on the way here this time last season.

The only way we'll get him significantly under 20 mill imo is if it goes to deadline day and all of Brighton Southampton West Ham Norwich have solved their problems elsewhere.

After his brief cameo yesterday I'd think Benteke is fine to start the season up top, so we can leave the Armstrong deal until deadline day if it saves us millions - no urgency at our end, and as others have said, Blackburn know they have to sell and if we go in with a bigger offer now then we just start any possible auction unhelpfully early.

The one issue I see with leaving it to deadline day is the possible impact it could have on the other business we intend to do.

I assume we are getting a loan from somewhere and if the Armstrong deal doesn't happen that could be a forward possibly or a mid or a LB say. We can't commit out loan until we have seen the Armstrong through one way or another.

The other impact will be that it will be harder to commit funds from the transfer budget in any other direction until this one is done. The CF would be likely our biggest outlay and affects other transfers more than vice versa perhaps.

Long story short we could be back into the domino effect dealing situation of seasons' past with all that that entails.

Valid point

I guess it depends on whether Blackburn need to replace him? If yes they can't afford this to go on too long if no then as you say they can leave it and hope others join the chase by deadline day.

It would be typical of west Ham to poach him at the last moment.
