Wow, who would you like at LB, Kenny Sansom, Dean Gordon? Mitchell is & will be our preferred LB along with Hannam pushing him all the way.

Ist game in & you are already blaming a player . . . Jeez

Mitchell is not good enough as a 1st choice full back and we have absolutely no back up for him. I’l be very surprised if we don’t sign a replacement before the end of the window.

Very disappointing result.
All the narrative has been about rebuilding and bringing players in, yet our starting line-up contained only 1 new signing.

In the relegation zone already.

So were Arsenal this morning. Do you get all excited about the league table after half the fixtures are played in game 1 are played?

Dear Patrick... If you have any money in the pot please get some pace in our midfield especially defensive. Ball goes past us too easily and we turn like oil tankers......

Last week we saw Mitchell keep Sarr quiet. Yes it was a pre season friendly but Sarr looked obvious quality and immediately outclassed Hannan (not surprising). If we are not happy with him another premier league team will be.

I feared the worst because basically it was the same team from last season with some youngsters on the bench.
My comment about 'Relegation zone' was tongue-in-cheek.

1) Moss is horrible. Didn't make a difference, but he's still horrible.

2) I'm fine with playing out of the back. But down 2-0, when it was clear we couldn't pass against Chelsea, when we got a goal kick, could we please just hoof the effing ball up the pitch once in a while? Having Guaita pass sideways to one of our backs was a bit much at that point.

3) Not a big fan of Mitchell. He has lapses in every game, and isn't a factor going forward. We need a better LB.

4) Ayew is just awful, a bench player at best, who never does anything helpful when he plays. Please don't ever start him again.

5) It's fairly obvious we need a better midfield. Jairo is squad depth, and Schlupp should only be a late sub when we are desperate for a goal. I'm hoping Gallagher makes a difference. If we had Gallagher and Eze playing well, we would look like a totally different team.

6) Today's loss was no worse than many times we looked like total sh-t last season. We had numerous matches against teams worse than Chelsea where we barely got a shot on goal. I'm still hopeful that we'll be able to put together some good performances this season, and maybe punish some crap sides for a change.

Sorry Eddie, I disagree, this lad is the best defender I've seen since Sansom, he properly defends. On top of that hes like a wing back ala PvA & links up with Wilf, something as had been mentioned the club has been working on.

We do how ever need a similar type player at right back, neither Ward or Clyne can fill that roll, well Clyne can, but needs cover.

1st game over, so looking forward to next even if I cant be there, but so jealous of you that can.

Wasn't able to watch today but in my opinion Chelsea are champions in waiting and that's probably our toughest fixture of the season over with.

It was always going to be a difficult start to the season due to the fixtures and injuries. Maybe wait until a few games in before we start writing anyone off

and last season with RH we started off that same match waving the white flag and conceded 4. Let’s not forget that Chelsea won the Champions League and have spent far far more than us. So please Willo stop the wind ups and bury the negativity. We are re-building and it will take a damn sight longer than one game for the new players to gel. Add to this Gallagher, Olise and later on Eze plus no doubt other signings. So get behind the team and think of what we have got rather than what we haven’t!

Bring back Brolin

There is some pretty harsh posts on here. Give us a break. Chelsea champions of Europe etc etc. Top team. We are still very new in with our players. Still planning to bring in more. Be patient. We need time and it’s crucial we get behind them. We are Palace. Known for our noise as heard today a mile away!!

Glad to hear most of us not jumping the gun and throwing our hands up. First 8 games are tough I've only got us down get wins against Brentford and Brighton (at best maybe). I'm giving PV time to get the team going.
As has been alluded already, the gulf in class was huge today and Parish needs to back PV more if he can over the coming weeks.

Overall impression of today’s match, our fans were brilliant, on pitch performance no better than a 3
Lacked from the first whistle any intention to get behind the wing backs , our attack was invisible and felt that the team were prepared for a loss and to get this game out of the way
