I think a lot of us thought Wilf had gotten slower and perhaps this was an issue, but apparently he has been clocked as the third fastest player in the PL this season [Link] This perhaps shows that the problem is mental and not physical. For his sake and ours I hope he re-finds his form. He had an excellent second half today.

1st half today he wasnt at it, but then the whole team wasnt, at times it was damage limitation due to constant WHU pressure. 2bd half he was more involved, my only criticism is he passed backwards more than i would have liked. however, at least we retained posession and i am sure that is a PV tactical thing.

To be honest Brauny this has been something I've noticed with Wilf for some time now.. a hangover from Roy's way of playing I don't know.. Maybe... But he certainly seems very Conservative these days compared to the Wilf we used to know in my opinion...

..enjoyed Wilf's second half yesterday. He even jumped in with celebration for CG's 2nd goal. He may have realized that no one is coming for him this window and decided to prove his true worth for us.

Watched the game on Sky last night. I honestly reckon Wilf is coming back. There were glimpses that made me think this. But I am very bias. Just hope I’m right. Cmon Wilf show us the magic.

I can't find the post but somebody mentioned that Wilf's best form is when he has a partner in crime e.g. Bolaise or Townsend and now Eze. I think that is spot on when we have another threat apart from Zaha it gives him more space. So with any luck with the players to come into the team Wilf's form should pick up.

People here have short memories - some of you have made your minds up that Wilf should go and that has affected how you watch the games.

Yeah, Eze seemed to be his protégé who he worked well with. Perhaps he'd benefit from being the senior guiding light and it might encourage him to reflect on his own temperament when he considers the influence it may have.

The thing about Zaha is that he inevitably attracts two or more defenders thus leaving space for more enterprising support. The trouble has always been that nobody has taken advantage of this. Gallagher can fill this role and, even more so, will Eze when he is back, maybe Olise if he is as good as expected.

Or managing a game when forward options are limited or when centre midfielder is not quite in position so lose the ball and counter attack is on. Or many other reasons even Man City do it or Barca do it. Etc etc. He saved his energy for the cross that created goal number 1. And the split pass to McArthur for goal number 2. Keep passing how you do Mr Zaha who is not 19 years old anymore and been kicked or dragged back for near 10 years and can’t be expected to be Messi or Ronald every minute!
