Football is about opinions I guess. I thought he came on and did well, although I must admit to being near the front of the Arthur Waite at the Holmesdale end so slightly obscured of his defensive work. I thought he looked good in possession, kept the ball well, some nice passing, and for his attempt he just couldn’t create the space to get a good strike as Man City had closed him down. I’m really glad we have him!

We need to off load him ASAP, otherwise we will end up with anther Benteke situation, its a mistake buying him, he isn't a Lone CF or a winger, but don't exacerbate the mistake by holding on to him, Loan to buy somewhere in France, even though we will probably have to pay subsidise his wages.

Let’s be honest he should of scored... instead of driving on he checked back and by that time they were City defenders around him to block him off... Mateta’s starts for a reason... his work rate is so much better....

I still believe we have a gem in Edouard, but with hardly any game time he is missing that very important element esp. important for strikers - confidence!

Horses for courses. Mateta will suit some games, Édouard others: pretty sure they could play together if necessary too

Edouard’s problem is that at the moment Vieira does not appear to see him as a central striker.

His lack of effort/intensity in defending was inexcusable especially given how hard the others had worked. But to right him off is foolish, and to suggest offloading him on subsidised wages is f***ing ridiculous.

He cant play with his back to the goal, simple, so he cant play as the one CF, and he is too lazy to play LW, he would be ok in a 4-4-2 but we will never play that under PV, its square peg in round hole

It's a bit like saying Vinnie is too lazy to play in CM (extreme and intentionally comical example of course). For me that's not his forte, experience or identity as a player, I see him very much as a poacher and perhaps more of a supporting striker as PES so eloquently entitled it. Agree square peg round hole, he's being asked to play a very different role which for me certainly doesn't suit his game or his strengths. Hence the effectiveness he brings or rather doesn't. Would be interested to see a Mateta(or dare I even say Benteke?)/Edouard combination as a front two.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

At present we have a CF who is playing well (more than enough to keep his place), and 2 wide forwards who are amongst the best in the league. And before last night he'd played 1 min in the last 5 games OE has good feet, a decent scoring pedigree, and is versatile enough to play across the front. He might press a little less than Wilf, but lets remember that Wilf is one of the best in the league at that. I don't know why so called fans are so quick to completely write players off. We need a squad, and he has made good contributions over the season
