All this speculation about Truss being ousted reminds me of all the speculation about Trump being jailed. There might be no truth in these conversations?

I'm not saying there isn't by the way.

From The New Statesman

'I am told that “a pile” of letters of no confidence – if not yet a tower – has already been submitted to Tory MPs on the executive of the 1922 Committee.

Letters have been going in over the past week, and the executive is ready to suspend the rule that currently prevents a vote against Truss within a year of taking office.

Its members can only do so once they feel that there is a “groundswell of support” for deposing Truss, but sources on the 1922 expect that point to be reached by Christmas.

Crucially, the 1922 executive will not wait for more than half of the Conservatives in the Commons to express their dissatisfaction.

A precedent has been set by the confidence vote against Johnson.'

Also re. Trump, that's still rumbling on, and getting worse for him by the day. Will have to see how that one comes out in the wash. Dirty and soiled, probably.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

I think perhaps you are seeing that through your political lens. Personally I don't think that pursuing Trump does the Democrats any good whatsoever politically. However, they have proven very willing to use the state to persecute their opponents, which has the taste of vindictiveness about it.... That level of animosity will inevitably mean the reverse will happen in 2024 if the Republicans get in.

For now all I can see is them doing very badly in November and then essentially Biden becomes a lame duck.

I can't get over the sheer level of spending Biden has done.....In a failing economy it's been spend, spend and more spend.....the dollar just continues to devalue.

The $ is the strongest it has been in 20 years and expected to get stronger. Compared to other economies the US is doing well. Don’t let pesky facts get in the way of Biden bashing though.

I think the Democrats would prefer to run against Trump. Whilst his “base” are blind to all his many faults there are enough others who aren’t. Someone else doesn’t carry that baggage.

November will be difficult. With so many Republican candidates carrying Trump’s lies in their pockets the threat of an attack on democracy is going to increase. Their system is going to be under even greater strain.

I see Truss as the sacrificial lamb for the Tories. All the fckwit decisions began with Cameron and were magnified under BJ. Who's to take the blame ?

The coffers were emptied by unverified designating of Covid contracts that were never fulfilled.

The Tories might truly be the party of economic failure at the moment, but with politics, you still have unwavering supporters. who vote blue because they are unable to consider any other option.

And who will recue the Tory party ? MP's running to retire on their ring-fenced pensions, and what's left is a discredited party of political nobodies.

I am not tory (no!) but do not share your pessimism. They will lose office but the oppo will, thanks to the SNP, only have a small majority and well, be Labour.

Meanwhile the Tories are crap now because their best were forced out as they were Remainers. When you replace intelligent pragmatic MPs with dim populist Brexiteers the consequences are precisely what we are living through. In opposition the tories will rebuild with MPs of the better quality and come back fighting.

However if they cling to populist personnel they will remain an anachronism and in opposition.

Proles? Rather dismissive of working class voters.

That’s like saying the word banana is boosterism of yellow fruit. It’s not, it’s just the name of it.

Proletariat dictionary definition; the class of people who do unskilled jobs in industry and own little or no property.

It’s not dismissive, its simply a word which refers to a certain section of society.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Not according to the Cambridge Dictionary which lists it as -
An insulting word for a member of a low social class.

Oh come on you know that term has more than one meaning.

Sure but when combined with "the naiveté" of same its hardly flattering.

Reality isn't your strong point.

The reality is that is a measure of inflation and not of its strength against other currencies.

Do you actually have a grasp of economics or do you just jump on the memes you read on the internet without applying even the simplest critical analysis?

My comment didn't relate against other currencies, it specifically referred to the dollar's devaluation.....the reality is a badly performing dollar affects other currencies as well but other than the knowledge I have it isn't my strong suit.

However, rather than me jump, you did in your impetuous desire to defend the Biden administration's pathetic performance....which indeed, worsens pretty much every sphere it controls.

However, what I will say about the economic performance of the dollar is that its fall is indicative of general US economics rather than one party.

The Democrats have just continued to worsen the situation and continued to lie to its people about it. Before them the Republicans were no better.
