I guess The Guardian doesn't print stories about the numerous Labour MPs done for sex crimes.

Great contribution as always Hrolf.

At least you've managed to complete a sentence without talking about immigrants.

We don't have sex crimes on the left, they are due to poor housing.

At least, that's my excuse and it's worked so far.

The same explanation given by those who've seen the Loch Ness monster, Big Foot or a flying saucer.

They might well do that, and I would be as sceptical as you.

The difference is that I am not about what I know.

What others think is of no consequence at all to me.

Funny how you Lefties change your tune. You made so much effort to keep the mines open under Thatcher.

One coal mine won't make a jot of difference to global warming and some people will get jobs. We will also have something to sell abroad.
Why waste a natural resource when we need energy independence?

You should be more worried about our growing migrant population, who will demand more and more resources.

It does though weaken our arguments with those in the third world, plus China and India that they need to lessen their reliance on coal, oil and gas.

By the way, do you blame migrants for wet weather, Palace defeats and Mondays?

I don't think, like fracking, that this will ever see the light of day.

The business case, that we can export this, our steel companies are going green and will not be customers, does not stand up, Europe is accelerating away from coal.

In true brexit mode, the UK has not defined the market for this, not a mention made, when it becomes operational in a few years who will even be interested.

This coal will be used in the manufacture of steel.
We had brexit to prevent our need to import so many goods.
The sums are; china makes the steel by using coal in their furnaces.
We then buy the steel so at this point the same process has been used. Now itís equal on a carbon emission sum. The west constantly bleat about why our tiny bit of CO2 should make a difference and the Chinese donít care. We then pay extra alongside the transport cost and thousands if not more gallons of fuel to transport said steel. More CO2 emmisions.
Alongside this new coal mine and associated will create up to 500 job jobs for our population who will get paid, pay tax, spend the money; which will benefit our economy. Now what in that seems wrong?

We may ask, why Sunak did attend COP27 and try to portray the UK as being a leader on climate change, quite prepared to criticise others.

Really our system of having unelected PMs needs a serious overhaul.

Read above to see why our own coal reduces our emmisions.

Did we? That's a surprise. I thought we had Brexit to reduce immigration, free ourselves of the dastardly control of unelected Eurocrats, take back control and be free to enjoy the riches of numerous new trade deals.

You conveniently forget that, in your scenario, the coal also needs to be transported to the other side of the world. As convincing others that we need to stop using fossil fuels is a vital element of our strategy, us helping them to continue using them makes no sense at all. In the far east I have seen a coastal power plant, sited in what would once have been a beautiful bay but now had 50 or more freighters and barges piled high with coal waiting to offload. This country generates almost all its electricity from imported coal, whilst being in the tropics with sun, wind and wave power waiting to be harvested. This won't help convince them.

Much better to establish those jobs producing renewable technology

Just sometimes itís better to play the ball than the man WE.
Read the post in isolation without trying to muddy the waters with your anti brexit agenda. It gets very tedious tbh.

Tut tut!

It was you who mentioned Brexit and made a strange claim. I just responded with surprise. I didn't mention my own opinion at all.

I then responded to the other claims made. Read the post, rather than playing me!

What the claim that brexit would give us the facility to be more independent about a raft of things.
