And just to raise a point about the vaccination and effectiveness and risk.
The vaccination was developed in approximately 10% of the time it usually takes drugs to get to market. Approximately 10 years is the timespan it takes from conception, through trials, some animal testing, then final human trials , before going to market.

Covid vaccines took about a year, and necessarily skipped a few hurdles. This is partially why its success isn't quite what we'd hoped.
There are other factors, such as Covid developing additional strains.
The upshot, (without blaming shambolic Governmental response), is that the way forward is for those offered vaccination, to take it.

If he's tested negative the whole episode is a complete waste of time. An unnecessary distraction that now makes his participation in the open somewhat controversial.

He told the interviewer that he tested positive for Covid twice - in June 2020 and on 16 December 2021. Copies of his positive PCR tests were provided to the interviewer - one was issued on the 16 December 2021, a day before Djokovic appeared at public events without a mask.

Cant be easy (denied entry to a country) for an event where he was expected to be one of the big name participants, possibly even favourite to win it, then subsequently gained the right to enter by contesting the refusal decision, must leave a sour taste in you mouth, I wonder how many of us would be of a mind to say, stuff your tournament & leave.

Whatever happens here the whole situation is now a farce.
Tennis Australia cocked up because they didn't know the facts.
The powers that be are being political in Election year.
The Border Force officials couldn't wait to be too officious.
However - the biggest and most arrogant arse of the lot is Djokovic.
He is not vaccinated - now properly reported. He has had a positive covid test twice and the last of those was on December 16th 2021 when the day after he went unmasked to a photo event with a lot of people and the following day did another appointment with L'Equipe I believe when all the time he should have been isolating.
He has broken all of the rules regarding isolation and expects to swan in to a country with seriously strict covid border rules.
My mates over there are spitting feathers about this and reckon he will be less welcome than smallpox when and if he goes on court.
Whatever respect I had for him as a tennis player I now have none for him as a person - none at all.
