If he has a natural talent to attack as well... given he initially played that before and was enough to earn him contract, there may be hope for him. Even a subpar winger can improve immensely under the right conditions..

I just wonder if he sees it as failing, going back to us, esp with how the zaha saga played out.

Well, he can't see it as much as else, can he? Whether he comes back to Palace or goes somewhere else, it is what it is. When you leave Man Utd., even in their present state, for anyone other than Liverpool, Chelsea, or Man City then you've failed. Period, full stop, the end. So AWB will just have to reconcile himself to that, knuckle down, improve, and come again. Not really an issue in my book.

AWB, is out of favour and it could be he doesn’t suit the present managers attempts to tighten up Uniteds defence.. and improve the cohesion in the team. if the reports are true this doesn’t apply to just him. IMHO neither should it..
Getting AWB back as a loan next season would be a coup he is still an improvement on Ward, of course if Ferguson, comes good , then maybe not needed. But tempting anyway.

AWB + Vieira's coaching + his young age + the fact that he's an outstanding defender + the fact there's no real reason to believe he can't learn and improve his attacking game (as Joel Ward has under the present coaching staff, and AWB has the potential to be a better player than Ward) + his Champions League experience + his experience of sharing a dressing room, and learning from the likes of Ronaldo and Cavani which must have taught him something...I mean what the f*** is not to like?

Assuming we could negotiate a reasonable/acceptable fee, would anyone seriously not bring AWB back in a heartbeat? With AWB on one side and Mitchell on the other, we'd basically have our full backs sorted for the next ten years leaving money to spend elsewhere in the team. And we'd have Ferguson (who DOES play CB as well), Guehi, and Andersson in the middle of the back four, all of whom are also young.

At a fair price, AWB would be a seriously, seriously good bit of business. (And remember, United paid £47 million for Fred so they may well take Luka in part exchange, who they'd probably value at least £20 million at today's rates :-)

The issue with AWB is he has had his head turned by being at a big club, his personal problems off the field have been well documented. I would think he considers Palace as a backward move in his career, with the money he is now on, why would he want to come back rather than go to a Champions league club.
Some fans obsession of bringing ex players back is strange. The the only one which worked out was Zaha, most have flopped, Hopkins, A Johnson, Cylne etc.

surely this says more about Utd's coaching set-up than AWB. He's young enough and has enough of the attributes to be moulded into the player they need.

Also smacks of excuses from the gaffer, and if he says they're all crap, he's more likely to get a couple of replacements rather than asking for 2 and getting 1.

My thoughts too.

Joining Utd should have seen him improve, not regress.

Maguire the same. I also think Rashford hasn't developed as well as he could have done, and Greenwood could be the next to not fulfil his potential.

How long will Rangnick even last at United? AWB had a good first season at United and is a very good defensive RB. The next Man U manager may decide to keep him. If not, I can see a Champions league team (or one with Champions League ambitions) snapping him up. There's no reason to think he'll be coming back here. We need to move on.

Rangnick won't be there next season. I saw yesterday a story about Zindane being PSG manager next season leaving Poch to goto Utd.

If true, I suspect AWB will get a clean slate with Poch so don't expect him to going anywhere.

I must admit the whole Rangnick thing is a bit strange, especially if you read the news now articles, with some of the things headlined - was he brought in to see the season out & then move upstairs ( with someone like PSG Poch taking the position) or is he trying to demonstrate to the Man Utd Management that he is the man for the job long term ?

Does anyone really know ?

Never thought his ball mastery under pressure was good enough to make him Champions League or international player and that his value to us was always going to be greater than a so called big six team.

He's looked all at sea at United without the defensive drilling he got at Palace.

He can easily go to another club and succeed.... the top 6 are only the untouchable if you assume they are... he can go to many clubs and get cup runs, improve his international career - a lot of players rediscover form and they then get touted again....
