Wilf was woeful, never mind distinctly average. He looked like a trialist off the pace and out of his depth…up until he scored an absolute screamer.

What can you say? Frustrating and worrying that he can be so bad and ineffective and then he comes up with a wonder strike like that…and then scuffs a penalty two yards wide.

We should’ve won that, Norwich were very poor but we just don’t punish teams at the moment.

Guehi was different class tonight an absolute Rolls Royce performance, Olise didn’t seem as effective tonight and we just don’t seem to be playing with cohesion in the final third to really hurt teams.

Ward an absolute warrior and team legend but pleeeease spare him any more torture. Everything that needs saying has been covered by others already. He simply has to be replaced ASAP.

Here’s to three (much needed) points at Brentford.

That is the way i saw the game - Ward may have failed to stop one cross but after that he did not do much wrong. When the cross came over there were 4 Palace players in the box but no one was marking Pukki who is there main goal threat. Guehi was quality - England standard in my opinion. Norwich defended deep and in numbers and we struggled to create clear openings - we can't complain as we have done to plenty of teams in the past. I also thought Mateta is starting to look a real handful. He has pace and mobility usually hits the target when he gets a chance.
One question is why is Olise not taking at least some of our corners - Gallagher delivery is ok but not on the same level as Olise?

1 point is a disappointing return given how we dominated possession.

I think if Wilf had scored with the pen we would have gone on to win comfortably.

We need to start winning games to avoid being drawn into the dog fight at the bottom end of the table. Hopefully the return of Kouyate and Jimmy Mac will enable us to get those wins.

Mitchell had a great game and has Zaha covering him. They both complement each other. However Ward doesn’t get the support from Olise down the right the way Mitchell does on the left with Zaha. Ayew is much better supporting Ward than Olise and I expect he will start against Brentford? Olise makes a better impact coming on as sub as well. Ward had a tough time yesterday but I thought he played well.

ALL this, 100%. Im with you on this.

Wilf was marked out of the game ... always 2 to 3 players on him when he got the ball. Still showed class to get inside the markers and hit top bin finish.

The penalty was a bit gutty but when your standing foot slips the ball doesn't get hit properly ... I have seen players miss pens doing that before. Shrug and move on.

We had a few chances to wrap up the points bu there keeper was on form.

Norwich needed to win that and they were not up to it because we made it hard for them after there 48 sec goal.

I will take the point .... PV will know what needs to be done for the next match.

Although he was surrounded by players, that was not the issue for me. It was his passing that was so often simply dreadful; he kept giving the ball away, especially in the first half. Yes, top-class goal, agreed but generally I thought he was off his game.

This was another good performance in so many ways . Even in the first half we were constantly showing we had the ability to win that game. But .And it is a big but, we didn’t win the game for the tenth time this season we drew. And as with a good number of those draws it was a game we really should have won, if it wasn’t for what were in the main part self inflicted reasons for us not winning.
Once more we gave the opposition reason to believe with what was the softest of goals at this level in the first minute. At least this time it wasn’t two goals or three.
72 % possession for one goal then tells a tale. Lady Luck of course deserted again with Wilfs pen but we should not have needed luck.

I agree with this . Ward has his limitations we all know this and is obviously not the future. However there are many times over the years we would have been lost without him. Other than AWB no other right back has kept him out of side over the years we have bought a few "upgrades" Furg being the latest. Should we look to replace in Summer yes but until then he is the best we have

The calm after the storm!
Ward's age let him down last night and he is no longer quick enough either in mind or body for the Premier League in my opinion.
He will have good games and he has been amazing for us over the years but the time has come the Walrus said.............
We fought our way back into the game and ruled the roost for the main part but we huff and puff but do not have that cutting edge needed when it comes down to it.
I don't mind as we are a way better side than we were a year ago - it is just frustrating to think how many points we have let go this season.
We didn't lose though and despite other posters thoughts on this forum I was delighted to see Wilf back and thought he did okay and in amongst that he scored a worldie.
Penalty misses happen - I do not blame him at all - it happens.
We need to come good at Brentford on Saturday because I believe that when we translate possession into goals that the rest of the season will be a blast!

Some of these Zaha comments are pathetic. The commentator singled him out as our best player but decided to give MOM to the Norwich lad instead.

Seems fashionable to dig out Wilf at the moment.

It was his best performance for a while and he was influential in all our attacking play in the second half.

Zaha was no where near man of the match. Wasn’t even ‘winger of the match’.
For me Mitchell or the Norwich keeper were the 2 best players.

The situation regarding Ward Simply baffles me.
We bought Ward to replace Clynne (sold)
We put AWB in the first team for ward, because ward was injured.
We sell AWB (better than Ward) and buy Clynne, this time to replace AWB.
Clynne loses place to Ward, who we buy Ferguson for hasnt played a full game in two years nearly.

So back to ward again a player we originally bought 3 right backs ago 10 years ago !!

Anyone who thinks that good business needs their bumps felt.

Ward is lovely bloke and a great servant for the club, of that there is no doubt. But .....anyone with a modicum of pace has him up all day long, and after last night it would appear his delivery into the box as an attacking right back ( as PV plays that way ) was bloody woeful.

Compare that to our LB Mitchell who is another Ashley Cole in the making, he was simply superb last night and for me was MOTM.

The fist 30 mins was dire, exactly as it was against Scumwall, then it was one way traffic, and but for a fluke of a penalty miss we would have had three points.

Still not convinced with Mateta he had few opportunities against a shambolic defence, would've much rather seen benteke as the focal point, as Mateta seems incapable of holding the ball up.

Over all C+ much room for improvement.

Oh and whats the crack with Wickham.V2 is he ever going to play ?

If Guehi was so good, why wasn’t he anywhere near Pukki, when he scored? Mitchell had a far better game with at least 2 goal saving interception in front of goal, where Guehi, should of been.
Guehi looks good with the ball at his feet, but his defending needs to improve.
