We don't seem to be able to play well for more than one half.

We really need some wins and this is one we can win and really must win if we want to avoid the relegation scrap.

Anyone missing Roy ball yet?

No chance!! I’d sooner go down at least trying to attack and play a bit than sit through that again

I was happy with a point midweek, the same goes for this game. Funny enough, we have one away win all season. Of all teams, against Manchester City.
How can anyone not love our club?

There are good times and bad times to play teams. I think when we played Brentford early on they were on a high and a bit of an unknown. They now have injuries and Toney will probably be out and some of their returning players will be not up to speed. We generally know their style now and their confidence will be brittle so definitely a good time to play them. If we can get an early goal we could win well. Don't think they will approach the game like they did against City and i think it could be open. I also think we have more options to freshen up our team who are generally well rested. I am going 1-3.

Made a fair go at Citeh last night, one goal being a goalie rick (who played a blinder against us at Selhurst). Only 3 wins in 16 for them, not great form, but all at home, against bottom feeders. Hoping for a rare away win (will we only win once away at Citeh all season?) but with our season form, smart money will be on a draw, 1-1 again. COYP !!

Only marginally worse than our 5 wins in 23.

Or than our 4 wins in 16 (league games).

We really need to become a consistent side that has a 95 minute game plan, and by competing from the off, not waiting for the second half. If we can do this then I think we have enough in the locker to win. 3-1 Palace.

Brentford are similar to us in that their performances haven't always been rewarded with points.

Both teams could do with a win, but it looks like another draw.

But as one of the worst tipsters around, I'm going for a Brentford win.

I thought that our first half performance against Norwich was fairly close to Roy ball. Useless long balls, no attempts on target, slow movement.
We really must learn to press like we did at the start of the season and play for 90 minutes. The return of McArthur could help.

BBC News was bigging up Eriksson yesterday "about to make his debut for Brentford", they said, although the Palace match wasn't specified.

What chance that he:

1. plays a part against us?
2. plays better than any of our team?
3. scores?
4. is the darling of the media on Sunday?

Unfortunately their strengths lie in the areas that we are weak.
They have 3 centre backs who are strong in the air as well as Toney. Their set piece delivery is very good and they are also adept at long throws into the penalty area and are very aggressive at attacking the second ball.
They sit deep and are compact and don't leave much space which we struggle with as we don't have a clever passer and it means that Gallagher has no spaces to run into.
They also have pace on the counter attack with Mbueno which could trouble Ward/Anderson.
They are not world beaters, but do have certain strengths that we struggle with.
I'd take a point
If they win I think they go above us.
