I'm a bit too far away, but others might find it tempting.

Cash in hand work is illegal mate.
Knocking up render and plaster boarding with a plasterer mainly.
Need transport, not tools.
Most of our guys have vans supplied, but not when they first start.

Wisbech Eagle has a lot of time on his hands. He could use it to find out how people think and what they think.

Cash in hand IS illegal and rightly so.
Half and half must be negotiable though

Cash in hand is not illegal. The cash economy is shrinking but still there and always will be whilst the banks and card companies levy high charges on small amounts.

It's not declaring the cash to HMRC and paying tax that is the bit that is against the law.

when i started building trade, it was 95% cash.
the boss would have everybodys wages in those brown envelopes with the holes perforated, so you could see the £ inside.

Nowdays its 95% bank transfer, cheques are nearly gone.

With respect you've made a completely irrelevant comparison.

This post is about an employer paying an employee, where cash in hand IS illegal - as the employer who started the thread has pointed out.

Paying a cab driver is a transaction between a business and a customer - no different to paying for goods in a shop or on a market stall.

Yes, but no doubt then you had all those Irishmen on 'the lump' who signed their dockets M.Mouse, C. Lyon etc and buggered off home every nine months....

There is work out there for Grafters. And not just the stuff the Eastern Europeans used to do on the cheap.

I hope Casual gets his person.
