Since Roy's departure, there seems to be a trend of denigrating his abilities.

Yes, he had no budget, worked with the (slim) resources available and kept us up consistently.

Both Pullis and Allardyce were told that if they signed contracts for Palace, there would next to no money to spend. They both walked.

Roy was the only one who was brave enough to take the job under those conditions.

Now some of our fans are comparing Mr Hodgson with PV when it's completely unfair. PV was given money, Roy wasn't.

Mr Hodgson will go down for me as probably the best manager we've had. Okay, 'Royball', as those people call it, makes it sound like it was the only brand of football that he could manage and fail to see that he cut his cloth to fit; we played that way because it was the only way to keep us going, which he did. Consistently

Agreed...I've lost count of the number of arguments I had on here with people that struggled to understand your above points.

Well, presumably, given the most recent posts, Gallagher must have gone.

Oh, off the point, you mean? Sorry.

No problem, I was only using the lowest form of wit.

It is fascinating how threads morph into something totally different to their original topic and especially how often posters manage to bring Hodgson or Royball into a thread.

For the record, I respect what Roy did for us and would argue that it wasn't a case of 'Royball' during the whole of his tenure. That type of football mainly increased in line with the ageing of the squad IMO.

It's possible to acknowledge that Hodgson did a reasonable job while at the sane time not bring a fan of his brand of football even with so called limited resources.
I doubt we would have seen the spark of early season form from Gallagher under Hodgson.
Vieira gave freedom to Gallagher to support the strikers and make continual runs into the box which led to goals and assists.
It is unlikely tbat Gallagher would hsve had such freedom under Hodgson as he prefers midfielders behind the ball looking at the defensive as opposed to the positive attributes of the player.

Guilty! Come to think of it I didn't even look at the title of the thread.. or at least consider it. Not sure it warrants a booking but I'll self impose one for now!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

His performance at Watford will give a good indication of his ability as a manager and whether or not it is the tactics or more the players at his disposal. Some would say he now has a better squad to coach than we had last season.

So, since Roy's arrival at the Hornets they've conceded one in three matches and get the win today against Villa.

Gallagher rediscovering his form is going to be absolutely critical to how the rest of the season goes.

It's not necessarily his form but his role in the team thats returning. Kouyate has been a massive loss for Gallagher.

Connor's goal last night was a sublime piece of skill. His control of Mitchells cross was awesome. At least enjoy his time at the Palace.
