100% correct, Gallagher is an outstanding player but will never be ours, In my Opinion Eze is better when he gets back to match fitness, and the Gallagher role is made for him, he will score and create in that role, and he is ours, that's why i started this thread

As you say it's an opinion and I think all palace fans hope you are correct. However right now Gallagher is a better player and our top goal scorer and that is a fact.

I would love to keep him but I expect Chelsea fans are salivating at him in their team next season so unless Chelsea are nationalised by the government and Parish has negatives of the sport minister he is theirs.

As for Eze last season he started to play really well then he got injured so rigt now he is potential where as Gallagher is actual.

I hope you are right.

Indeed. He will become another Loftus-Cheek at Chelsea. I’d love him to stay but I guess we just enjoy it while it lasts.

My concerns for Gallagher when he returns to Chelsea are:

They are always splashing the cash and could well by more midfielders, therefore restricting game time. CG will need to play regularly to get WC place:
Tuchal seems to be talking about him playing deeper. What I have seen he has more impact playing further forward. There again Tuchal probably knows more about football than me

I think if we get a win at burnley, which I am confident on, I would reduce Gallagher to the bench and cup matches for the main part, with 10 games to go, all but safe, I would prep for next season and also focus on that cup...

Gallagher is on borrowed time, he did his job, he's fantastic.... he helped the team achieve status in this league and give us great options for the cup, but there's no point using him til may at the detriment of one or two.

phasing him out, is natural as long as the team is better long term for it.

I get it, highest position is cash, but it's about seeing who we have. Eze is one I would give more game time to.

I disagree on a number of counts.

First up is the managers job. In a results business it's about picking the best team available to you. If Gallagher is available, he should play. We are paying for him after all.

Secondly, there is no similarity between Eze and Gallagher in terms of playing style. PV's game plan to date has included Gallagher. To accommodate Eze would require a different approach.

I get the argument about the only way Eze can get back to true full fitness is by getting game time. But that has to be earned. PV sees him in training every day and that informs his selection decisions. I think he needs to continue to be handled with care after the injury he had. He'll benefit from a proper Pre Season in the summer.

Spot on Neillo. I would add that Gallagher and Eze are chalk and cheese. Gallagher is your all round player or as he calls himself a box-to-box player. Eze lacks the defensive skills needed for the Gallagher role, even more so after his nasty injury (understandable until he can trust his body again). IMO, to accommodate Eze in a midfield 3, PV would need to field two DMs and I don't see that happening. He would fit a 4-2-3-1, though, but PV seemed to see that system as a one-off to stifle Chelsea (and perhaps one or two of the other top teams in future? Yes, I know we lost but the system did the job until that 89th minute lapse).

Gallagher's future will be interesting as we don't know what impact the Russia/Ukraine conflict will have on Chelsea's future financing options.

I think a big part of why we play 4-3-3 currently is that it suits Gallagher well and allows us to create those overloads down the right with his forward movement. I don't think it suits too many of the other plays in the squad

Assuming CG is playing elsewhere next season, I think we may move more towards the 4-1-4-1 we did against Chelsea, and Eze becomes much easier to fit into a system like that.

For all his talent, I'm still not 100% where Eze is most effective.

I think we may go 4-2-3-1 depending on summer spending. The 3 being Olise, Eze and Zaha with Mateta/Eduoard up top
