My money (FWIW) is on didn’t (100%).

My money is on he meant it to go in that general direction.

And what will our chum Phil's barber say when he does it again and again and it keeps going in? This is like the reverse sweep in cricket ... unthinkable, no one ever tried it, the odd one goes horribly wrong but it's now accepted without comment.

He tried a similar shot earlier in the game which went wide (look at the brief highlights on Palace Player).
I suspect we will continue to see him try this shot as if he gets it right it's impossible for a keeper to stop unless he happens to be positioned by the post.

Yes he meant it,he was watching it, look at his body language.

The lads got SKILL, he's the spin master, look at the corner he took before mg goal that nearly went in, not saying he meant that , but his aim was to get as close to goal and cause danger, it turned out to be a sighter for mg goal.

Look at some of the crosses he's put in this season on the money for someone to put it or nearly going in the net. Very dangerous very brilliant.

He means most of what he does.

He meant it?! He mis kicked it with his left foot onto his right and that’s why it ballooned up like it did.
He has got stupendous skills though so if he does it again in another game then I may concede that he may have meant it!

I've looked at it dozens of times and I cannot, for the life of me, see any contact with his standing leg: it looks a truely hit, viciously spinning, shot. Try as I might, I see no contact whatsoever with his right leg.

Imo it was genius and we'll see it again.

I'm determined to spew out this cricketing analogy to death, so if it did bounce of his standing limb he's clearly a leg spinner.

Love the comments here [Link] to be fair it was about the fifth time I watched to work out what happened I thought it hit the hoarding behind
If he means that we have a truly great player on our hands. Pickfords positioning is fine and the only way he beaten is if there is pace and left to right movement with a small amount of dip, so if Olise means the amount of dip and height he gets on that goalkeepers are going to need to rethink their positioning against him.I hope it is not a fluke but I don't think we will see it again any time soon.It doesn't look like it hit his standing foot.

One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A

I believe it was intentional for this reason. A few minutes earlier Olise hit a similar shot from the same place, and with what looked like the same technique. That went wrong, so finding himself in that position in the penalty box a second time tried it again. This time the goal attempt nearly worked.

That's of course just an opinion, but it may explain why MO turned his back in annoyance/disappointment/whatever - it didn't go in. I suppose he should have been happy that it eventually did become a goal. That may show a little lack of team spirit, but hopefully that will grow as he matures.

Fat Frank has said it was a fluke and all our goals were lucky. He could of been our manager and wouldn’t of allowed that sort of play.

Slimey toad is on to something. If he's a leg spinner it must have hit him in the googlies. That explains it.

This is one of the most bizarre threads ever - how on earth can anyone think that was deliberate?

Watch the Roehampton extended 9 minute highlights on youtube. That's the only replay that shows both identical Olise attempts. In each case his standing leg is in the same position and his left foot seems to collide with it. It wasn't a fluke and it wasn't an accident. The first attempt was a sighter and the second was spot on. It was brilliant.

So you can't mis-hit the ball twice in the same game?

His standing leg is in the same position because that's how you kick a football ffs - where else is it going to be?
